  1. ITM 6 nyheder og fremtid Jan Hansen, jaha@dk.ibm.com

  3. FP3 Released in August • Enhanced Scalability - support for 10000 agents in a single hub, 1000+ in a remote • Additions to platform support matrix • TEPS / Warehouse Proxy Agent on AIX (completes the AIX stack) • Added Managed System List command line interfaces (CLI) to support additional automation in the environment • Linux TEPS to Oracle Warehouse support • Support of Oracle Warehouse on platforms other than Solaris (AIX, Linux, Windows) • Enhanced Security • Count invalid login attempts and allow for lockout if number of invalid logins is exceeded • Remove open permission (777) from directory structure

  4. More FP3 Enhancements • Event Assistant enriches the event management capabilities of the TEP by allowing operators to enhance situation events such as: • A note history can be kept to follow debug steps or issues uncovered • An owner can be assigned to an event to track resolution • Attachments such as screenshots or logs can be added to assist in debug • Dynamic Workspace Linking (DWL) • DWL allows for easy creation of connecting unique workspaces with updates to the link editor • Dynamic Linking from a TEC Event allows for rapid drilldown to problem source in-context and ability to take corrective action • Import/Export Workspaces and Views for simple migration from test to production environments • 100+ APAR fixes

  5. 100+ OPAL Solutions Delivered Since February ’06! OPAL (http://catalog.lotus.com/wps/portal/tm) allows us to deliver functionality to you immediately! Get an RSS feed and watch for new solutions such as: • Scheduler / Maintenance Mode – Schedule situations on/off and define maintenance window times. • Web Services-based reporting – Allows for scheduled reports and the ability to generate reports outside of the TEP and in html. • ITM Self-Monitoring – Long awaited ability to self-monitor the ITM infrastructure for health, performance and availability. • LPAR monitoring via HMC – Allows in-depth monitoring of your AIX LPARs • Netware, Tandem, cluster, network and dozens of other customized monitors • Multiple whitepapers including monitoring in a clustered environment, hints/tips on DM migration, running ITM servers in a clustered environment and many others.

  8. Building Your Own Agent via the Agent Builder • Eclipse Agent Builder • Standard / Best Practice Data Sources • WMI • Windows Performance Monitor (Perfmon) • Windows Event Log • SNMP • Script • JMX • Coming Soon • CIM • WMI Reference/Association Groups • Log File • Statistical Calculations • (min, max, mean, standard dev.) • Unix / Linux variants • Best Practice Library contains many download-able samples • Agent Builder reduces the development time by 10x or more. Agents requiring 5+ hours to develop using the UA can be created in less than 30 minutes with the Agent Builder

  9. DWL Example - TEC Launch in Context Event arrives for L1 operator who wants to do a drill-down. Right click on TEC event, newsub-menu available, go to ITM situation results. Launches into situation results workspace. Situation results shows current status of situation, threshold that triggered situation, expert advice for resolving the issue and a window for corrective action. By launching and understanding the problem in context, we greatly reduce round trip MTTR.

  10. What’s Coming in FP4 / 6.2? • ITM v5 -> ITM v6 automated upgrade of Resource Models to Situations • User Groups – Manage users by customized groupings • LDAP Support – The user logins to the TEP and TEMS will be authenticated via LDAP or AD (if configured as LDAP) • Enhanced TEC integration by migrating the tecserver.txt file to integrate with the situation editor, greatly improving usability • Common Event Viewer to allow for the same face to all event sources • Emit CBE (Common Base Event) formatted events • Topology views of the ITM infrastructure • A graphical builder for ACT rules • Enhancing the integrated web browser • Lotus Domino monitoring using the best-of-breed Intelliwatch product • JMX based monitoring • Linux on Power5 monitoring
