  4. Reading Blog • Add a “New Post” to your Reading Blog • Title of the Book, Pages Read (since your last post) • Characters. If you had to remove 1 character from your book, what character would it be? Tell me what character you would remove, why you would remove him/her, and how that would affect the story if he/she were no longer part of the plot.

  5. Mini Lesson • Poetry Book Requirements • Go over Poetry Book requirements, due dates, grading, etc • Checklist

  6. Haiku – Japanese poetry about nature. 3 lines long. First line has 5 syllables, second line has 7 syllables, third line has 5 syllables (5-7-5) • Rhyming – poem that has at least 1 rhyming word in every line. 2 options: • Internal Rhyme – the words within the same line of poetry rhyme • Jack and Jill went up the hill • End Rhyme – the words at the end of the lines rhyme • I watched the stars at night • Shine so bright

  7. Writing Workshop • Begin working on your first poems • Create a Microsoft Word OR Power Point document • Title the document and Save it to your Poetry folder on your Desktop • Put all of the poems on the SAME document • Begin working on the first 2 poems due. • When you get 2 poems written, show them to me and I will check them off your list and give you your 10 daily points for completing them

  8. Ticket Out • This weekend was the start of “March Madness” where we have the NCAA Tournament, St Patrick’s Day, the start of Spring, and baseball season around the corner. What is the best month of the year, in your opinion? Why?
