  6. Adv. with Dinos, sample days • Wednesday: Read “Duck-billed dinosaurs,” from First Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs, pages 28 – 29 and explore the internet link on page 29. Do “Dinosaur race,” from How to draw Dinosaurs, pages 24 – 25. Use the third stencil from Dinosaur Stencil Book to draw some herbivores, like Lambeosaurus and Parasaurolophus. Suggested topics for journaling/discussion: Hadrosaur herds returned to the exact same place each year to lay eggs. If you could return to the same place every year, where would it be? Would it be somewhere in your house, somewhere you visited once, or a place you have only imagined going to? Why did you pick this place? What makes it special to you? Draw a picture of you in your favorite place.

  7. Adv. with Dinos, sample days • Thursday: Read “Baby dinosaurs,” from First Encyclopedia of Dinosaurs, pages 38 – 39 and explore the internet link on page 39. Play a round of SNAP and look for the Maiasaura, a hadrosaur. Do “Baby dinosaurs,” from How to draw Dinosaurs, pages 2 – 3. Use the fourth stencil from Dinosaur Stencil Book to draw your own Maiasaura and baby Maiasauras. Make your own baby dinos! Make gelatin eggs and put dinosaur-shaped crackers or fruit snacks inside.

  8. Adv. with Dinos, sample days • Friday: Scrapbook and picture day! Add all of your pictures to your scrapbook! Take pictures of whole eggs. With a grown up’s permission, break some of the eggs and empty the yolk and whites (you could have scrambled eggs for breakfast!). Put them in the grass or somewhere else outside and take pictures of the shells to make it look like baby dinos have hatched. Focus on the eggs and the cracked shells to get some interesting textures and shapes. Have your pictures developed or printed and add them to your scrapbook in some of the ways suggested.
