    2. Structure of Local Economy - In Local Economy, Single Village is not a complete unit representing rural area. Inter dependence on associated villages – form a structure – constitute a production process for rural areas. Instead of a village taluk level cluster of villages is a unit in local economy, NBMS Model for rural industrialization.

    6. NBMS Total Scheduled Caste + Scheduled Tribes population about 25 crores. Total No. of villages about six lakhs. Average population of SC-ST per village 400 (n). The artisan population will be close to SC-ST population N- Artisan population more than 9 times average(>9n) B- Artisan population around average(n) M- Artisan population much less than average(n/9) S- Artisan almost absent.

    9. Area Planning The planning of an area for developing multi-network of group enterprises is made through the field investigations and feasibility analysis for potential enterprises. The first key task in this direction is to determine the pattern of concentration of artisans in general and investigate in detail the involvement of artisans, peasants and agricultural labourers in the local economy. The area planning includes information about local economic structure artisans involvement, interrelationship between buyers, consumers and producers, supply & demand, technological choices, pinches & problems in the sectors, opportunities present, and system to be adopted.

    10. (a) General profile of the area- Structure of the area Demographic & geographic information. Size and potential Field area in terms of involvement of artisans, Farmers and agricultural labourers in the local economy. Settlements occupational details. Natural resources Production Land uses and their distribution.

    11. (b) Description of the sector specific activities- Like occupations, sub occupation, their Relationship with Actor related to the sector and general description of sector made. It also includes sector specific inputs, outputs, facilities relevant to the sector and relationship with non-local economy. (c) Techno-economic analysis and unit operations: This step deals with the techno-economic analysis of the existing production processes present in the sector. The production processes are discussed in terms of IEPSO and describe pinches/problems emerging from techno-economic analysis of unit operations.

    13. (d) Demand and supply analysis: Based on the techno-economic analysis at each level villages in NBMS, break-even analysis of the processes are made in this step. Problems & pinches emerged from the previous steps, guide for opportunities for the sector in NBMS at every level. Break-even analysis of each production process relevant to the sectors to be made for the existing situation.

(e) Projected system:- On the basis of the analysis made in previous steps and opportunities emerged, a system of production network with technological interventions is planned which is known as projected system. An action plan for capacity building and running an enterprise is evaluated in this step. Break-even analysis of each unit at every level is made and when it is found feasible only then the unit is recommended for implementation at the field level.

    15. Rural Leather Industry S- Availability of dead animals. Availability of land based materials for processing of leather. M- Availability of flayer to pick up the dead animals, remove skins and preserve. B- Market for skins. Processing of the skin into coarse leather. N- Market for coarse leather, availability of materials and chemicals for processing of skins into coarse leather. C- Fine finish of leather, bulk markets for finished leather as well as for materials and chemicals for processing of leather.
