  2. RtI IS… IS NOT…

  3. Universal Screeners • Describe services offered

  4. RtI Response to Intervention (RtI) is a process of implementing high-quality, scientifically validated instructional practices based on learner needs, monitoring student progress, and adjusting instruction based on student response.

  5. RtI Response to Intervention (RtI) is the process of teachers changing their instruction based on how well the students responded to it.

  6. RtI Has become the national model for successfully reaching students when they are just beginning to fall behind expected benchmarks and providing appropriate supports and interventions at increasing levels of intensity.

  7. SST Compliance Analyze Data • Review Screening Data to identify & target students performing at or below the 25th percentile in Reading & Mathematics • Review Discipline Data to identify patterns or trends by school, grade, teacher, student, subgroup, etc.

  8. SST Compliance Analyze Data What number/percentage of students is performing at or below the 25th percentile? Do any students have an excessive number of office discipline referrals? Are these students being served at Tier II or Tier III?

  9. SST Compliance Analyze Data What Tier II or Tier III interventions are in place to support these students? When are these interventions provided? By whom? What form of progress monitoring is used to determine students’ response to intervention and movement from Tier I to Tier II to Tier III?

  10. Intervention Fidelity & Progress Monitoring RtI Folder Review • To identify potential non-compliance to Georgia Rule regarding the Student Support Team process to address learning and behavioral problems of K-12 students in school.

  11. Georgia Rule <=> SST • Does each school have a minimum of one SST that follows the district’s policy for providing interventions for students experiencing academic and/or behavioral problems?

  12. Georgia Rule <=> SST Were research-based interventions implemented with fidelity? Was implementation documented with appropriate progress monitoring tool?

  13. Georgia Rule <=> SST If immediate or emergency referral was sought, what interim strategies, interventions, and modifications were attempted for the student?

  14. RtI/SST Protocol • Use Table Packet w/Rainbow Reports, Norm Reports, RtI/SST Monitoring Protocol • ID students at/below 25th percentile • ID criteria for moving from T1-T2 • Complete RtI/SST Protocol

  15. RtI/SST Monitoring • How do you plan to monitor effective RtI in your building? Create a Pictorial Representation to include Data Analysis & Interventions— Who?—What?—When?—How?

  16. Important Information When the general education, or Tier 1 instruction, in the district is solid and done with fidelity, 80-90% of our students will experience SUCCESS!  The RtI process involves: 1. Identification of Struggling Students (both academically and/or behaviorally) 2. Diagnosis of Specific Learning Gaps and/or Deficits 3. Creating Plan for Interventions & Goal Setting 4. Providing Appropriate Interventions (with integrity and fidelity) 5.Progress Monitoring 6. Data Analysis & Student Outcomes

  17. Q & A Individual school RtI/SST teams may request meetings with RtI Coordinator as needed during the year.
