  2. Before you read… • THINK. What do you think it takes to be a successful student, both now in middle school, as well as you what you need to be successful in college? • Make a list. Generate a list of criteria/tips/strategies/whatever best captures your thinking. • When you share with your partner, the YOUNGER person will share first. • Meet with your proximity partner.

  3. The questions • Preview these questions before you read the article: • Which “secret” surprised you the most? Explain. • Is there a “secret” that you do not agree with and/or you think has been given too much importance in this article? Explain. • Does this challenge any of your thinking and/or what values you think our current way of thinking about Honors/GT is in this district? Does it challenge the list you and/or your partner made prior to this article? Does this fit with the way that people usually talk/think about for what is important, especially in Honors? Consider all of these factors before you explain. Minimum word response for this question: 100

  4. The article • You are going to read something today that I hope might challenge your thinking, especially if you have a long history of being in Honors/GT programs. Remember to be open minded!
