Meanwhile, New Zealand are also the number one ranked Test team in the world. During a recent chat on Star Sports, Irfan Pathan said, “I think India played with fewer batsmen — which I highlighted before the ICC World Test Championship final. We do not have quality fast-bowling all-arounder — which New Zealand possesses — and it is hard to find one. Now, If we talk from a proper cricketing point of view — what went wrong for India? I think the first innings went great, but Team India’s batting in the second inning was disappointing.”

  3. outside — a sense of responsibility was required. Indian batters were using a lot of pull shots on bouncers; instead of using their body and this showed a lack of commitment.” While talking about how the Indian players lacked match practice prior to the WTC final, Irfan Pathan said that the Indian players looked tired in the first innings itself as they didn’t have enough match practice. Notably, India had played in the longer format earlier this year against England at home. On the other hand, New Zealand had a series win 1-0 against England just before the WTC Final as well. But, the all-rounder said that things will improve soon and opined that they could have opted for more bouncers as well.
