  1. Kane Williamson Applauds His Team While New Zealand have recently played against England in the first Test, captain Kane Williamson has told that his team will “start afresh” in next week’s second and final Test against England at Edgbaston and also added that they will pay some “superb” cricket to have the better of a drawn series opener at Lord’s as well. The Black Caps managed to get good start as opener Devon Conway left his mark in his Test debut with a brilliant 200. On the other hand, experienced seamer Tim Southee then took 6-43 as New Zealand, managed to have a first-innings lead of over a hundred runs as well. Notably, the Kiwis will face India in the inaugural World Test Championship final from June 18. Meanwhile, Neil Wagner took 2-27 but England too gave a tough time to 170-3 in 70 overs by the time a draw was taken place. We declared for a reason and that was to try and push for a victory. Although it seemed unlikely for a period, if one spun out of the rough or you were able to open up and end then anything could happen reasonably quickly, and we were holding on to that hope for as long as we could. But clearly things became quite docile out there.”

  3. However, the captain was all praise for his key bowler Tim Southee as he believed the pacer led the attack quite beautifully. However, New Zealand have got good match practice with this two-match Test series against England whereas India wouldn’t get any practice game before the much-awaited WTC final. This will certainly help the Kiwis. While they had last played a Test earlier this year against England, they will play against the same opponent in a five-match Tests series after the WTC final as well.
