  2. The city of Galati is situated not far from the worldwide famous Danube Delta, a unique place in Europe due to its flora and fauna. With about 400,000 inhabitants, Galati is the 5-th greatest city of Romania. Located on the left bank of the Danube at 150 km (80 MMi) from the Black Sea, at the confluence of the Danube with two North - South flowing rivers, Galati developed very early as a main commercial centre, the biggest Romanian inland harbor. Galati has also become an important cultural centre. Museums, theatres and other cultural sites can be visited at Galati: the Danube Shore, the Dramatic Theatre, the Musical Theatre, the Art Museum, the Botanical Garden, the Public Garden, the old “Precista” Monastery, the Cathedral and so on. The downtown has changed place each year as the city has developed in time. Now there is an old downtown and new economical downtown. The old downtown From the cleanness point of view, Galati is not the cleanest but neither the dirtiest city in Romania. There are many things to be done for a cleaner and healthier life in the center of our city.

  3. The new downtown A part of the new downtown, known as “Mazepa 1” neighborhood, with many green clean spots. It is an exquisite place with many shops, offices and economical agencies. The main street in Galati, Brailei street, the largest road in the city, here at night. The Cultural Popular House in Galati, a place where many cultural events like concerts, theatre plays and conferences take place.

  4. The most famous artesian well in the city, in shape of a dandelion. This is the place where people come and cool in the hot summer afternoon. There is a real park and benches around it. Galati has important museums such as this one: Alexandru Ioan Cuza`s History Museum

  5. Galati is one of the most important ports of Romania because near the city passes the Danube, which springs from the Black Forest Mountains, in Germany. In this picture you can see a very old sailing boat from the 15th century. In Galati there is School No 2 where I study. This school is very special because it has the green flag, the award for Eco-Schools.

  6. If you would like to have a special cultural evening, the drama theater can offer great performances. You are welcome to our city!
