  1. February Monthly Reflection 8th Grade Project: Learning the flute

  2. Mentor Collaboration • I met with my mentor once this month. • During our meeting, I was able to greatly improve my tone. • I was also able to make my notes sound more clear in the high range of the flute. • My mentor assigned me four pages to play and complete between my two books. • We also talked about song possibilities for my end of the year presentation.

  3. What I learned • This month, I learned how to make the high notes come out clearer on the flute. • I also learned the fingering for a high F. • I learned two scales: Bb Major and D Major. • My mentor and I continued to work on my embouchure, so I learned that I need to move my jaw forward in the high register on the flute and move my jaw backwards in the lower register of the flute. • I was also able to learn a duet, and two pages of music out of my method book.

  4. Pages in my books that I learned this month.

  5. Next Month • Next month, I want to have my final song picked out and begin to rehearse it. • I also want to continue to improve my embouchure and continue to improve my range. • I would also like to meet with my mentor more, since we only were able to meet once last week. • Since there are twelve major scales and I have only learned five, I would like to learn four more major scales this month so that I am able to play all twelve by the end of the year. • In addition to these things, I also want to continue to progress through the books I am working in.
