  2. A. TEXT  (17) But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. (18) They said to you, "In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions." (19) It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid ofthe Spirit. (20) But you, beloved, build yourselves up in your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; (21) keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.

  3. 1. THE PREDICTIONS OF THE APOSTLES OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. (Acts 20:29; Eph 4:11; Heb 2:3) "In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions." (1 Tim 4:1; 2 Tim 3:1-5; 2 Pet 2:1; 3:2,3) It is these who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid ofthe Spirit. (Prov 18:1; Rom 8:9; 1 Cor 2:14,15; Php 3:3)

BUILD YOURSELVES UP IN YOUR MOST HOLY FAITH;(Col 1:23; 2:7; 1 Th 5:11) pray in the Holy Spirit; (Rom 8:26,27; Gal 4:6; Eph 6:18) keep yourselves in the love of God,(Rom 8:35-39; 2 Cor 13:14; Acts 13:43) waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ ( 1Cor 1:7; Titus 2:13; Heb 9:28; 2 Pet 3:12) that leads to eternal life. (Mt 25:46)

  5. THE LIFE APPLICATION- 1. Since we are in the last times (ever since Pentecost), why will there be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions, who cause divisions, worldly people, devoid of the Spirit? 2. When do we build ourselves up in our most holy faith and how do we pray in the Holy Spirit? 3. What are the ways by which we keep ourselves in the love of God? 4. While we are waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, where does God work to lead us to eternal life?
