  1. Compelling Reasons to Combine Direct Email Marketing and SMS Marketing Taking a multi-channel tactic to an advertiser’s marketing strategy has always produced big results. Given that there are numerous communication channels competing for consumers' attention, it makes sense for marketers to use various messaging strategies like direct email marketing and SMS marketing in order to increase their chances of engaging and connecting with their target audience. But not all channels are created equally, and they don't necessarily complement one another. The drawbacks of channel conflict are cited as difficulties with the entire process as frequently as the benefits of multichannel marketing are. While planning a marketing strategy, it is sensible to search for channels that operate together harmoniously and utilise the advantages of two or more marketing channels. Combining direct email marketing with SMS marketing often delivers excellent results. Here are four ways in which these two channels synchronise with each other when combined to be used in a multichannel marketing plan. 1. Mobile-First Strategy A short while ago, marketers used to think that marketing for mobile devices was less significant than marketing for desktops. Although they were aware of the importance of mobile, strategies for it was always done after considering the desktop.

  2. In 2020, most ads' scripts have changed. Today, customers are more likely to use a mobile device than a desktop computer to browse the web, check their email, or communicate with a business. So many digital advertisers benefit from developing their marketing strategies with a mobile-first focus. While the size of the screen might pose problems for the efficiency and performance of some forms of digital marketing (display ads are a fantastic example), it can also offer significant advantages. Both direct email marketing and SMS marketing are customer-centric channels that are built to thrive in a mobile-first environment. For obvious reasons, SMS has always required a mobile device for delivery, whereas direct email marketing first needed to adjust to the unique user interface of the handheld screen. Email is one of the most successful mobile marketing channels because marketers have successfully learnt how to adapt email content for mobile screens. Given everything said above, integrating email and SMS marketing can assist advertisers in utilising the mobile channel and quickly connecting with customers where they are most likely to be exposed to marketing messages. 2. Complementary Insights Both SMS and email marketing are particularly focused on getting a quick response. Performance-focused channels have the added benefit of inherently supporting accurate performance measurement. A clear image of a campaign's success may be obtained by comparing and even combining the tracking data that each channel provides, including metrics such as the number of messages sent, open rates, clicks on links, unsubscribe rates, and even spam complaints. The measurements make it simpler for marketers to assess each channel's performance on its own as well as when combined to provide a more comprehensive picture of audience engagement and response to the entire campaign. Beyond KPIs, SMS and email lists can be segregated into clearly defined target audience groups, making it simpler to precisely assess the effectiveness and return on investment (ROI) at the audience level. In most other channels, this level of campaign assessment is relatively difficult to achieve, making email and SMS marketing together the most preferable and straightforward choice for marketers. 3. Sending Timing and Frequency One of the main benefits of both email and SMS is the ability of the marketer to manage the distribution of their campaigns and messages. Even though you still have no control over the precise time a recipient will open an email or text message, you may choose when it is delivered to their inbox.

  3. Since the advent of direct mail, direct marketers have benefited greatly from the ability to plan the timing of a campaign. But for marketers that wish to have more control over the timing of message delivery, SMS and email offer a significant advantage due to their immediate nature of delivery and condensed reaction window. It is also possible to synchronise the delivery timing of email and SMS because they both share this degree of control. As a result, marketers can use reminders in one channel to improve the effectiveness of another (for instance, following up an email marketing campaign with a timely SMS marketing campaign). 4. Cost Effectiveness Email is constantly proven to be one of the most economical digital marketing methods. Although each campaign's effectiveness definitely varies, there has been a very long-standing standard statistic of $42 returned for every $1 spent in email marketing. This is primarily because sending emails is still affordable compared to using many other channels (which often involve buying media or actively bidding against the competition for placement, etc.). SMS is similar to email in terms of cost-effectiveness and has no need to bid against other marketers for limited media or inventory. However, the lower execution costs of these two marketing channels do not alone account for their cost-effectiveness. These channels increase customer engagement and response rates, making them highly advantageous for marketing plans with the objective of better reach and user engagement. Additionally, the final audience size is influenced by the overall budget as well as the variable cost of media. If a marketer wants to contact a long list of email addresses or phone numbers, they can quickly and precisely estimate the cost in advance because email and SMS marketing prices are typically established at a fairly fixed rate.
