  2. FOLKTALE forest where he lived. After roaming the dense forest for a while, he found a wild rooster and made it his meal. When he was eating the rooster, suddenly a small bone got stuck in his throat. The wolf coughed and coughed but could not get the bone out of his throat. He ran up and down the small hills in the forest, groaning and moaning, trying to relieve his pain. Then it became difcult for him to breathe. He ran back towards his den and started pleading with all the other animals that he met to help him get the bone out. But no one stepped forward to help the shrewd wolf. Then at last, the wolf thought of a crane who lived on the bank of a nearby lake. He went to the crane and begged for help. He also promised to pay the crane suitably for Panchatantra: The Wolf And The Crane helping him. The kind crane took pity on seeing the wolf’s condition and decided to help him. The crane told the wolf to lie on his side and open his jaws as wide as he could. She put her long neck down his throat and pulled the bone out. “Ahhhh! I feel so much better,” said the wolf, taking long deep breaths. “I am glad that you are fne. Now it is your turn to give me the reward you promised.” said the crane. The wolf grinned wide, showing all his teeth. He said, “Dear crane, be content. You put your head inside a wolf’s mouth and took it out again safely. Isn’t that a big reward in itself? You must be thankful to me for not tearing you apart when your head was inside my mouth.” Poor crane was very disappointed and left the place with a heavy heart. She made a mistake by trusting someone as shrewd as the wolf. One day, a greedy and cunning wolf who was very hungry, went out to hunt in the

  5. Healthy Me What is Clean Eating? Clean eating isn't a diet or a fad, it is a healthy choice you should make. It is eating a healthy and fresh diet loaded with vegetables, grains, proteins and healthy fats. Clean eating is an easy lifestyle choice to maintain as it just involves the cutting out of processed food. If you're wondering why it is important to switch over to a clean eating diet; it is simply because it is an easy way to fush out excess toxins from your body. Foods available in the supermarket are usually over-processed and come loaded with calo- ries and sugars. They lack basic nutrients – which are stripped away when the foods are processed. A majority of the vegetables incorporated in processed food are also treated with harmful pesticides. Clean eating also increases the body's immunity and boosts your all-round health. You will feel instantly better once you cut out sugary snacks, biscuits, chips and salted snacks. Good, healthy, pesticide-free nourishes your body and gives you more energy. The key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle is to consistently eat clean. Finding alternatives to salty and sugar loaded snacks aren't that tough! 4

  6. Pondering Corner What is Bird Migration? Migration is when an animal moves from one region or habitat to another during a particular season. Birds migrate twice a year, in order to fnd food, breed, grow or to fnd a better climate. Unlike other animals, birds are unable to build nests that would ensure that they would survive the winter. It is an unpredictable season where food is scarce. Therefore many birds will migrate half-way across the world to search for warm climates to spend the winter months. Birds don’t change the places they migrate to every year. They follow patterns of movement that have remained unchanged for generations. In tropical regions, birds do not fnd the need to migrate as the weather is always warm and there is a steady food supply. However, in colder regions, birds migrate south when days shorten and food supplies decline. Birds migrate to cooler regions in the summer in order to breed. Not all birds migrate. Familiar species such as pigeons, crows and ravens are able to survive in winter and do not fy to warmer climates. Birds prepare for the long journey by entering a state called ‘hyperphagia’; where they bulk up on food in order to store fat. The fat will later convert into energy during the taxing journey. Some birds, like the blackpoll warbler, almost double their body weight. Name the South American Animals

  7. comic story einstien iyengar Atmospheric Pressure Part II The Physical Education teacher asked Eeshan a question and Eeshan purposely answered it incorrectly. He raised his scale. Stretch out your hand, Eeshan! If you are going to use your weapon, I should be allowed to defend myself with my weapon. You will defend yourself with this newspaper? Let’s see you do it! 6

  8. Eeshan asked for the scale from the teacher and placed it on the table. He placed the scale in such a manner that half of it was outside the table from one side. He spread out a newspaper leaf on the table, on top of the scale. If my paper can break your scale, you won’t punish me. I hope that is fair. You expect a newspaper to break the scale? Alright, go ahead. With a swift motion Eeshan hit the part outside the newspaper and the scale broke in two! The whole class started to cheer. The teacher took Eeshan to the principal for disturbing the peace of the class. Eeshan explained to the principal what had been going on. The principal dismissed the teacher from school, for punishing the children.

  9. Wow Eeshan! That was superb! Knowing you, it can’t be magic. So what did you do? Simple! Air pressure! Air exerts pressure on every square inch of the paper. We created a vacuum between the scale and the newspaper, so there was no air to balance the air pressure. With so much air pressure, the other end of the scale was practically placed under a ton of weight. When I thwarted the scale at the other, the free end, it broke. We all study science, Eeshan, but you apply it! Thanks for saving us, yet again.

Well, wouldn’t you prefer to know? Fun Facts about Toucans Toucans, found in the tropical forests of South America, sleep in tree hollows or abandoned woodpecker holes. They make themselves smaller to do so, by rolling up into balls, tucking their beaks in and flipping their tails up. They mostly eat different kinds of fruit, and sometimes choose to snack on insects, frogs, and reptiles, or the eggs of other birds. A toucan's beak is about 8 inches long. It makes up 1/3 of the bird’s total length. There are around 40 different kinds of toucans that range in size from 7 inches to a little over 2 feet tall.
