  2. FOLKTALE The Elephant's Nose down hurriedly. Suddenly it blinked and opened its mouth. The elephant looked at the creature and asked him innocently, “Have you ever seen a crocodile here? I have been searching for one for a very long time.” “Then I must say you are lucky, I am the one you were looking for,” said the crocodile. The baby elephant jumped with excitement! “Then can you tell me what do you have for dinner?” asked the elephant excitedly. The crocodile splashed its tail in the mud flled water and said, “I will defnitely tell you, but only if you come closer.” The baby elephant was excited and brought his ears closer to the crocodile. At once the crocodile leaped and caught the nose of the elephant with a strong grip. The baby elephant was scared. He tried pulling his nose back, but the crocodile wouldn’t let go.They both started pulling from both sides, and the elephant’s nose kept stretching and stretching. Finally the crocodile gave up and swiftly went into the water. The baby elephant fell back with a jerk. He was tired and sat down on the bank. Suddenly, he noticed that his nose was longer than before. He realised that it had kept growing longer as the crocodile was pulling it. The elephant was in pain. He waited for his nose to shrink by wrapping it up in banana leaves. However, it never shrank. Since that day, the elephant’s nose remained like that - very long. Many years ago, the elephant’s nose was not as long as it is now. It was merely the size of a boot, which the elephant could twist from side to side. But an elephant’s baby changed it forever. The baby elephant was extremely inquisitive and curious and always had a question for everyone. He asked the girafe, “Why do you have spots all over your body?” And to the ostrich he said, “Why do your tail feathers grow like that?” He also asked the hippo why its eyes were so red and to the baboon he asked why melons tasted the way they did. One day, he was getting very curious and asked what the crocodile eats for dinner. “Hushhhh, be quiet,” said all the animals with fear. But the baby elephant was not going to keep quiet. He kept asking he same question to everyone he met. One day, he came across the Kolokolo bird and she told him where he could fnd an answer. “You will fnd your answer in the green, grey and greasy Limpopo River,” she said. The baby elephant started his journey, with his back laden with a lot of sugarcane, melons and bananas. After a very long and tiring journey, he fnally reached the river. He was walking along the edge of the river, when he suddenly stepped on something that looked like a log of wood. But that something started moving its tail and the baby elephant stepped

  3. Find ten hidden objects Pinky, Pinky, Pang Silly Rhymes A tortoise sat on a slippery limb And played his pinky pang For a dog-fsh friend that called on him, And this is what he sang: “Oh, the skies are blue, And I wait for you To come where the willows hang, And dance all night By the white moonlight To my pinky, pinky, pang!” 2

  4. Sam Visits the Ice Cave in the Mutnovsky Volcano Discover a new place I am at the ice cave in the Mutnovsky Volcano in Russia. This place is amazing and none of this is man-made! The cave itself was carved from the glacier by an underground hot water spring fowing beneath the glacier. The walls are thus made up of highly com- pacted snow, which is what gives it its unique appearance. The multicolored lights are a result of the sunlight being fltered through the glaciers on the ceiling. That’s what gives the cave walls a stained glass look. The cave is half a mile long and was discovered accidentally by a Ms. Balentsova and her local guide Denis Budkov, during an expedition in 2012 near the Kamchatka Penin- sula. The Kamchatka Peninsula, in the far east of Russia, is known to be a region of exceptional natural beauty with its large symmetrical volcanoes, lakes, wild rivers and a spectacular coastline. I hear that up until 1990, the area was of limits to foreigners. The locals here tell me that the photographer who discovered it was really lucky. Most of the time, the area is covered with snow, and the place where the cave was found is of the usual track. Thanks to the mix of an unusually hot summer, and the observant photographer and her guide, who noticed the spring underneath the glacier and fol- lowed it to the cave, we can now see the magical caves, whenever the snow melts enough to allow passage into the cave. Which, they tell me, is not very often – proba- bly the reason why everything around here looks to be in pristine condition! Boy do I feel lucky to have seen this magical place!

  6. comic story Akbar Birbal Birbal and Akbar's Ring It so happened that once, Emperor Akbar misplaced his ring somewhere. When Birbal arrived in the court, Akbar told him… I have lost my ring. It was very dear to me as my father had given it to me as a gift. Please help me find it! You need not worry, Jahanpanah! I will find your ring right away. Your Majesty, the ring is here in this court itself. It is with one of our courtiers. The courtier who has a straw in his beard has your ring. 5

  7. The courtier who had filched the Emperor’s ring was shocked and immediately moved his hand over his beard. Birbal was waiting for this reaction from one of the courtiers. He immediately pointed towards that particular courtier and ordered the royal guards to search him. The guards frisked the courtier and found the Emperor’s ring lying in the pocket of his achkan. Akbar was pleasantly surprised at another wonderful example of Birbal’s wit. Your Majesty, I just shot an arrow in the dark. As they rightly say that a guilty person is always scared, the real culprit revealed himself by moving his hand over his beard. Birbal, tell me how were you able to find the culprit? spot ten differences

  8. The meerkats were deep in sleep, burrowed in holes below the earth. All was silent and everyone felt safe and peaceful. Suddenly, there was a loud, panicked whistle and all the meerkats woke up with a start. Danger was near and they had to run for their lives! Complete the Story... fun facts with Hamlet the Hamster To know or not to know, that is the question! Well, wouldn’t you prefer to know? Facts About Meerkats The meerkat, also called a suricate, is a mammal in the mongoose family and is the only member of the mongoose family that doesn't have a bushy tail. A clan of meerkats will always have one "sentry" on guard to watch out for predators while the others forage for food. If the meerkat on guard spots danger, it barks loudly or whistles in different ways.
