  1. Myths Busted About Car Batteries

  2. It is astonishing but true that the most popular myths about car batteries Adelaide are baseless and false. If you do not believe it, then read the blog till the last line.

  3. Myth #1: Go for a long drive if you flatten the battery by leaving the lights unintentionally on • It is not true. The right way is to use an appropriate multi-stage battery charger. It will reliably restore its power. Make sure the charger voltage is high enough. Thus, the battery acid will get mixed evenly in the electrolyte. • Do not rely on short-cut methods such as a short stop-start trip. Experts say that continuous undercharging or ‘surface’ charging will reduce the capacity of the battery & shorten its life as well. Not only that, you will void the warranty as well.

  4. Myth #2: Calcium batteries have a low charge rate, hence, they are not appropriate for old cars • Calcium is there in both positive & negative plates. It extends the shelf life and battery life both. The other benefits are higher overcharge acceptance and increase in the power level. • According to experts, if the battery is showing lower power levels, then the problem is with the charging system & not battery. you need to get it checked first. Thus, calcium batteries are very much useful for old cars.

  5. Myth #3: One should disconnect the battery terminals if the car is going to remain idle for a few weeks • It is one of the most popular misconceptions. However, it is not true. Even if you are not going to use the car for a longer time, do not disconnect the battery. Modern cars have several electronic components that require power. • A few examples are; the electronic circuit, transmission and security system, steering, and transmission system. when you disconnect battery terminals, all of these systems stop. They will not work even if you connect the battery.

  6. Myth #4: To top up water level, you can use any water including tap water also • No, it is not true. The water you should use has to be deionized, distilled & demineralized. In the emergency, you can use rainwater captured in a clean container. • tap water blocks the pores & builds a coating on the plates. If the battery goes down due to poor maintenance, then you do not get the battery warranty.  • Therefore, do not use any other water than the prescribed & authorized water.
