  5. New Gemini Model • Begins Fall 2014 • Tuition free model used by other community colleges around the state. • Allows for greater access and eliminates the financial barrier for students.

  6. Tuition and Fees • Gemini courses will be tuition-free based upon an agreement between the district and FLCC. • FLCC charges the required tuition to the district and in turn the district charges the exact same amount to FLCC for rental use of the district’s classrooms and equipment.

  7. Tuition and Fees • Students will pay a $5 per credit hour fee. Ex. 6 credits will result in a $30 fee. • $5 per credit fee regardless of the number of credits. Ex. 12 credits will result in a $60 fee. • Fees will be used to support the program.

  8. Tuition and Fees • The fee will be waived for students who are eligible for free and reduced meals. • Students must self-identify by checking a box on the registration form. We will not ask a student if they are eligible for free and reduced meals. • A list of students who self-identified will be included in your census roster packet. You will be asked to verify the accuracy of the list.

  9. Certificate of Residency Forms • All students will still need to complete a certificate of residency form. • Students who have lived in NYS for less than 1 year may register for classes because the double tuition will be covered by the district agreement.

  10. Course Expectations • Gemini courses are first and foremost official FLCC courses. All students in the course are expected to meet FLCC’s learning outcomes. • It is expected that all students enrolled in the FLCC course section are academically prepared to take the course for college credit. • It is expected that all students in the Gemini section will register for the Gemini course. • We are moving to this model to ensure course consistency and meet SUNY General Education requirements. • AP students can be co-seated in Gemini courses, but all students in the course section must meet FLCC learning outcomes and be prepared to take the course for college credit. It is up to the student and district to determine whether students will take the AP exam.

  11. District Perspective Timeline • Students will be registered the same way they always have. • FLCC will generate a tuition bill for each school district for the total tuition due. (October & March) • School district will charge FLCC classroom rent equal to tuition due.
