Learning outcomes • All will know who Kate Malone is • All will begin a mixed media drawing of one of her sculptures • Most will be able to make links with the work of Karl Blossfeldt and Kate Malone. • Most will accurately draw and begin to add colour to their work using pencil crayon. • Some will begin to blend colours neatly and accurately.

Kate Malone • Kate Malone is an artist who specialises in ceramics. • Inspired by seeds and flowering parts of plants. • She uses a camera to take close up images of seeds and plants to help her get the same detail in her sculptures. • She is interested in being able to show the texture of plants through her ceramic sculptures. • Her work is of different sizes small enough to go in doors and also large enough to be used in the outside environment. • Uses special glazes to protect and decorate her work which are bright and colourful.
