    2. The New Ofsted Framework – Implications for Governors The effectiveness of the Governing Body What does Ofsted say “good” governance looks like? Where will the inspection evidence come from? Equalities, Community Cohesion and Safeguarding Limiting Judgements

    3. The Full Judgement The effectiveness of the governing body in challenging and supporting the school so that weaknesses are tackled decisively and statutory responsibilities met

    4. Good (2) The governing body has the capacity to meet the school’s needs and is influential in determining the strategic direction of the school. Governors are rigorous in ensuring that pupils and staff are safe and discharge their statutory duties effectively. They are fully and systematically involved in evaluating the school. Their relationships with staff are constructive and they show determination in challenging and supporting the school in tackling weaknesses and so bringing about necessary improvements. Governors have clear systems for seeking the views of parents and pupils and mechanisms for acting on these.

    5. Where will the inspection evidence come from? Inspection evidence is likely to include information drawn from the following sources: SEF Including Part C – Statutory Requirements Discussion with governors Minutes of meetings Discussion with other leaders in the school Monitoring/visit reports School Plan Questionnaires

    6. Equalities – compliance with statutory requirements In order to be judged at least ‘satisfactory’ in promoting equality the school must meet 5 requirements as a minimum. It must have: Written race equality policy Disability Equality Scheme Gender Equality Scheme It must also monitor the implementation of these schemes and assess their impact It must record racist incidents and report them to the local authority on a regular basis

    7. Equalities, Community Cohesion and Safeguarding Not just policy Policy into practice and procedure What impact does this have? How is this impact evaluated? How is this information used to promote further improvement?
