History of Muhammad Born in AD 570 into the leading tribe of the town of Mecca; name means “highly praised” Traveled with trading caravans as youth; exposed to Judaism and Catholicism At age 25 he married a widow, Khadija, who was fifteen years his senior Claimed to receive vision from angel Gabriel in 609; spent rest of life revealing Koran Then Allah will say: “Jesus, son of Mary, did you ever say to mankind: ‘Worship me and my mother as gods before Allah?’” (5:116) As for monasticism, they instituted it themselves (for We had not enjoined it on them)… (57:27)

Koran on Muhammad Muhammad has spoken ultimate revelation and must be obeyed (5:48; 4:59) Muhammad described in OT and NT (7:157) Believers, obey Allah and the Apostle and those in authority among you (4:59) …and to those that shall follow the Apostle – the Unlettered Prophet – whom they shall find described in the Torah and the Gospel (7:157) And to you We have revealed the Book with the truth. It confirms the Scriptures which came before it and stands as a guardian over them (5:48)

Him you shall hear, 16 according to all you desired of the Lord your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, 'Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, lest I die.' 17 And the Lord said to me: 'What they have spoken is good. 18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 19 And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him.

John16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
