  2. Islam is based on: • Prophet – Muhammad • Revelation – Koran Islam: of God or of Man? Will it be The Cross or The Crescent? Hutto-El Dareer Debate (1974) Jesus the Messiah is the only begotten Son of God, was crucified for the sins of the world, and the New Testament is God’s final revelation The advent of the Prophet Mohammed is clearly foretold in both Old and New Testaments, and the Koran is God’s final revelation

  3. Islam is based on: “Revelation” that claims to have come from God, but has no miraculous confirmation Claims that Bible is corrupted, but offers no proof of the charge Contradicts and adds to the Bible, and teaches troubling, false doctrines Bible stands superior as the miraculously confirmed, authentic, and final revelation of God!!

  4. History of Muhammad Born in AD 570 into the leading tribe of the town of Mecca; name means “highly praised” Traveled with trading caravans as youth; exposed to Judaism and Catholicism At age 25 he married a widow, Khadija, who was fifteen years his senior Claimed to receive vision from angel Gabriel in 609; spent rest of life revealing Koran Then Allah will say: “Jesus, son of Mary, did you ever say to mankind: ‘Worship me and my mother as gods before Allah?’” (5:116) As for monasticism, they instituted it themselves (for We had not enjoined it on them)… (57:27)

  5. History of Muhammad Not received well in Mecca; persecuted; fled to Medina (622, hijarah, start of calendar) Began violent period of life – war and pillage; defeated army of Mecca (624 Battle of Badr) Died in AD 632 (approx. 62 years old) in Medina; his tomb is located there

  6. Jesus Eternal God, the Word, before the world was (Isa. 9:6; Mic. 5:2; Jn. 1:1; 17:5) Became flesh and dwelt with man [incarnation] (Jn. 1:14; Phil. 2:7; Heb. 2:14) Suffered and died as sacrifice for sins; raised to endless life (Rom. 5:8-9; Heb. 7:24)

  7. Jesus Ascended to heaven; received glory, authority, and kingdom (Matt. 28:18; Dan. 7:13-14) Will return to raise dead and judge all men at the last day (2 Cor. 5:10; Jn. 6:40; 12:48)

  8. Jesus, son of Mary (not son of God) BIBLE KORAN The Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, was no more than Allah’s apostle and His Word…Allah forbid that He should have a son! (4:171) …because I said, “I am the Son of God” (Jn. 10:36) “Are you then the Son of God?” And He said to them, “You rightly say that I am” (Lk. 22:70)

  9. Jesus was a human only BIBLE KORAN The Messiah, the son of Mary, was no more than an apostle: other apostles passed away before him. His mother was a saintly woman. They both ate earthly food (5:75) And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” (Jn. 20:28)

  10. Jesus not want Worship BIBLE KORAN Then Allah will say: “Jesus, son of Mary, did you ever say to mankind: ‘Worship me…’” …he will answer, “how could I say that to which I have no right?” (5:116-118) Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God” (Matt. 14:33)

  11. Jesus not Crucified BIBLE KORAN They did not kill him, nor did they crucify him, but they thought they did (4:157-158) Then they crucified Him (Matt. 27:35) For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God (2 Cor. 13:4)

  12. Koran on Muhammad Many prophets have been sent by God (surah 4:163-165; Jesus included as one of many) Jesus announced coming of Muhammad (61:6) Muhammad is last prophet (33:40) We have revealed Our will to you as We revealed it to Noah…Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the tribes; to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, Solomon and David… (4:163) And of Jesus, who said to the Israelites: “I am sent forth to you by Allah to confirm the Torah already revealed and to give news of an apostle that will come after me whose name is Ahmed” (61:6) Mohammed is the father of no man among you. He is the apostle of Allah and the Seal [Last] of the Prophets (33:40)

  13. Koran on Muhammad Muhammad has spoken ultimate revelation and must be obeyed (5:48; 4:59) Muhammad described in OT and NT (7:157) Believers, obey Allah and the Apostle and those in authority among you (4:59) …and to those that shall follow the Apostle – the Unlettered Prophet – whom they shall find described in the Torah and the Gospel (7:157) And to you We have revealed the Book with the truth. It confirms the Scriptures which came before it and stands as a guardian over them (5:48)

  14. Muhammad in Bible? Deuteronomy 18:15-19

  15. I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 15 "The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear, 16 according to all you desired of the Lord your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, 'Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, lest I die.' 17 And the Lord said to me: 'What they have spoken is good. 18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 19 And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him.

  17. Muhammad in Bible? Deuteronomy 18:15-19 Answer – Prophet from midst of Israel; fulfilled by Jesus (Acts 3:18-26) John 16:7

  18. Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. John 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever-- 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you…26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John 15:26 "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. John16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

  19. Muhammad in Bible? Deuteronomy 18:15-19 Answer – Prophet from midst of Israel; fulfilled by Jesus (Acts 3:18-26) John 16:7 Answer – Comforter is Holy Spirit sent to the apostles (14:16-17, 26; 15:26; 16:13) Muhammad 600 years too late to fulfill the promised Prophet and Comforter

  20. Jesus – God’s Final Messenger Jesus identified as the Prophet that God would “raise up” (Acts 3:18-26) Jesus is God’s divine spokesman to us in these last days (Jn. 1:1, 17; Matt. 17:5; Heb. 1:1-2) Jesus and His words are God’s will to the end of time (Matt. 28:20; Jn. 12:48; Gal. 1:6-12)

  21. Jesus – God’s Final Messenger Jesus is the only way to God and eternal salvation (Jn. 14:6; Acts 4:12; Phil. 2:9) Jesus is God’s final Prophet, Priest, and King; others who claim otherwise are false! Son of God (Matt. 16:13-19) – Claimed before eyewitnesses and confirmed by miracles

  22. Islam is based on: “Prophet” that was not prophesied to come, performed no signs, and is dead and buried “Revelation” that contradicts and adds to the Bible, teaches troubling false doctrines, and has no miraculous confirmation Claims Bible is corrupted without proof Totally rejects the divine claims, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus A FALSE RELIGION: human leadership, authority, and revelation which is leading many souls into error
