  2. Yataro Iwasaki • 9 January 1835-7 February 1885 • He was born in the province of Aki, TosaProvince. • Began his career working on Tosa clan. • He went to Edo (now Tokyo) when he was nineteen years old.

  4. Back to EDO • Studied under the reformist Toyo Yoshida. • Promoted to top positions in the Tosa clan trading office in Nagasaki. 吉田 東洋 (Yoshida Touyou) Yoshida was Tosa daimyo Yamauchi Yodo’s most trusted and reformed-minded minister.
