  1. DHS Bulldog Announcements THURSDay, OCTOber 10, 2019

  2. EARLY RELEASE • STUDENTS: PLEASE REMIND YOUR PARENTS THAT TOMORROW (10/11) IS A COUNTY-WIDE EARLY RELEASE DAY. STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED AT 12:15. ALL ACADEMY STUDENTS WILL REPORT TO DHS THAT DAY. ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO TAKE THEIR NORMAL MODE OF TRANSPORTATION HOME. • IF YOU ARE A CAR RIDER, PLEASE LET YOUR PARENTS KNOW THAT SCHOOL ENDS AT 12:15 PM ON THAT DAY. • Once school has been dismissed, all football players will report to the main gym. All cheerleaders not leaving will report to the auxiliary gym. Any dance team members not leaving will report to room 706. Any band members not leaving will report to the band room.

  3. AP EXAMS • Attention AP students: If you are currently taking an AP class, you must order and pay for your AP exam by Friday, November 1. Extra exam order forms are located in the main office. • Any exams ordered late will be assessed a $40 late fee by the College Board. Any exam ordered, but not taken and returned, will be assessed a $40 return fee. • Please return order forms to Mrs. Peek by November 1st with exam payment.

  4. HOMECOMING • The following students were nominated for Mr. Homecoming: William Anderson, Bryce McAlister andQuincey Pressley. • The nominees for Miss Homecoming are as follows: Aiziria Brown, Zaniya Clark andKiya Page. • The royal court is: • Mr. 9th grade: - Dwight Johnson; Miss 9th grade - Ashley Ball. • Mr. 10th grade – Nolan Farmer; Miss 10th grade – Kayla Callender. • Mr. 11th grade – Gary Richardson; Miss 11th grade – Imani Connor-Tolbert. • Mr. 12th grade – James Ward; Miss 12th grade – Grace Robinson. • Mr. Dutchtown High School – Joshua Lymon; Miss Dutchtown High School – Kiya Postell. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!

  5. MR. AND MRS. DRAMA • Congratulations to Jayden Sparks and Skyler Griffin who will be representing the Drama Club at the upcoming homecoming coronation.

  6. MILITARY BALL • Attention all 1st and 2nd semester JROTC cadets: Military Ball tickets are now on sale. They are $50 for cadets and $55 for guests.

  7. LOANER DEVICES • Loaner devices are to be turned into the Technology Office in the Media Center on the same day they are checked out.

  8. A HELPING HAND • Peer tutoring assistance is available in the media center. • If you would like a helping hand, please come to the Media Center during any block except IF.

  9. FUTURE BUSINESS LEADERS OF AMERICA • FBLA will meet this afternoon from 3:25 – 4:25 PM.

  10. AT YOUR SERVICE • SIMPLY SERVINGS NEXT MEETING WILL BE HELD IN ROOM 109 THIS AFTERNOON. DUES MUST BE TURNED IN BY THE MEETING DATE.

  11. G.A.M.E. CLUB • The g.a.m.e. club will meet toDAY(10/10) from 3:25 PM to 5:25 pm In room 127. • if you like anime, games or anything along those lines, please join us!

  12. BETA CLUB • ATTENTION all BETA students: Please plan to meet in room 326 at 3:30 PM today (10/10). • Club dues must be paid in full by conclusion of the meeting. • Field trip forms for the leadership summit will also be issued at this time.

  13. VOLLEYBALL REGION TOURNAMENT • The volleyball team begins its quest for a regional championship tonight as they compete in the Region Tournament at Eagle’s Landing High. • The first game against the Tigers of Stockbridge starts at 5:30 PM. The second game will be at 7:30 PM against an opponent to be determined. • Let’s go, team!

  14. GAME TIME • The freshman football team will host Heritage High School tonight (10/10) at 6:00 PM. • Our JV football team will travel to Heritage High to play on their turf at 6:00 PM this evening (10/10).

  15. GEZZO’S SPIRIT NIGHT • Tonight and every Thursday night during football season is Spirit Night at Gezzo’s. • Please come out and support your Dawgs while enjoying dinner!

  16. SENIOR PORTRAITS • Cady Studios will be back at DHS for the final senior yearbook picture day on Monday, October 14. • If you do not sign up for this day, you will have to go to one of the Cady Studios locations to have your senior photos taken. • Please go to www.cadystudios.com to schedule your session. The cost is $30. See Ms. Martin in room 110 with questions.

  17. DRAMA CLUB/TRAVEL CLUB SPIRIT NIGHT • Dutchtown’s Drama & Travel clubs will sponsor school spirit night at Gezzo’s next Monday, October 14, from 4pm to close. • Come out, eat a taco, support the arts and culture! • Gezzo’s Burritos is a proud supporter of DHS and its programs.

  18. There is a Peer Mediation Team meeting in room 324 on Monday October 14thand Wednesday October 16th to prepare for Start with Hello and Peer Mediation training with Mrs. S. Williams, school social worker. Please pay your Peer Mediation Team Dues by October 14th to vote for Mr. and Miss. Peer Mediation The goals of the Peer Mediation Team are: To aid students with resolving disputes between two or more students with the goal of preventing the need of administration from becoming involved in simple disputes among students. To reduce office/behavioral referrals To create and promote activities that will make Dutchtown High School a safe and welcoming environment of inclusion and reduce bias, bullying, and give an appreciation for diversity.

  19. WRESTLING COACH MEET & GREET • Attention all students interested in wrestling: Meet the new wrestling coach on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 6 PM in the DHS Commons.

  20. AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT UNION • ARE YOU INTERESTED IN JOINING THE AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT UNION, PLEASE PICK UP AN APPLICATION AND RETURN IT TO DR. DAVIS IN ROOM 125 BY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18. THE INITIAL MEMBERSHIP FEE IS $25.00.

  21. WALK FOR WASH • Did you know nearly 2 billion people are living with the risk of reduced access to freshwater resources? By 2050, 1 in 4 people are likely to live in a country affected by chronic shortages of freshwater. • Join the DHS science department on Saturday, October 19, for the walk for wash (water, sanitation and hygiene) to bring awareness to the lack of access to water and sanitation in developing countries. • We are challenging all teams, clubs and organizations to have their group represented in the walk and to help with fundraising. Please see Ms. Bond in room 328 with questions or to make a donation.

  22. GIRLS’ BASKETBALL TRYOUTS • Girls’ basketball tryouts are on Monday, October 21 and Tuesday, October 22 from 6 AM to 7:15 AM and 3:45 PM to 5:30 PM. You must attend both times on both days. • Please remember to have your physical and parental consent form.

  23. BOYS’ BASKETBALL TRYOUTS • Boys basketball try-outs will be on Monday and Tuesday October 21st -22nd for Underclassmen (9th - 10th grade) from 4:30pm-6:00pm. • Upperclassmen (11th- 12th grade) will tryout on Wednesday October 23rd, 2019 from 4:30-6:30. • Please make sure you have a physical on file with Coach Griffin, or you CANNOT tryout. No Exceptions. • If you are interested in being a manager for the Boy’s Basketball team, there will be a meeting on Wednesday, October 16th from 3:30 to 4:00pm in Coach Griffin’s Room 320.

  24. WRESTLING TRYOUTS • Wrestling tryouts will be held on Monday, October 21st and Monday, October 28th immediately after school. You must have a current physical turned in prior to tryouts. • Physicals may be turned in to the Athletic Directors, Coach Fedd and Coach White. All athletic forms are located on the Dutchtown website under the Athletics link.

  25. ROAD TRIP • The Georgia State College Tour will take place October 22nd.  The cost is $35. Students must be passing all classes to attend the trip. • Permission slips are available in the counseling office and available seats are first come first served. See Mrs. Johnson in the counseling office for questions.

  26. DUTCHTOWN’S GOT TALENT • Do you act, sing, dance, recite poetry, perform magic tricks or play an instrument? If so, come out to audition for the One Night Only: Talent Show. Soloists and groups are welcome! • Auditions will be on Tuesday, October 22, and Thursday, October 24. Please see Dr. Jolly in room 308 for an audition form. • The show will be on Friday, December 6. If your act makes the showcase, you are required to attend three show rehearsals.

  27. HOMECOMING DANCE • THE HOMECOMING DANCE WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26, AT 7PM IN THE DHS COMMONS. • TICKETS ARE $7 BUT IF YOU WAIT TO BUY THEM AT THE DOOR, THE COST WILL BE $10 EACH.

  28. JUNIOR & SENIOR PROM • The junior and senior prom will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at the Four Seasons Atlanta. • Prom tickets are now on sale. Ticket price is $120 each until October 31. Prices will increase thereafter. • Tickets can be bought online at myschoolbucks.com. They may also be purchased from Ms. Johnson in room 224 using cash, check or money order.

  29. SCHOOL DAZE • The PROBE college fair will be held at the Academy for Advanced Studies on Monday, November 4, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

  30. PENNIES FOR PATIENTS • NHS is having a Pennies for Patients Fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society until, November 8. • The home room that turns in the greatest amount will get a class pizza party. • Our fundraising goal for this year is $1,200.
