3. Normal salary • The normal salary for an Art director is: $104,262 but can range from $83,078 - $123,900 on average.

4. Education/Training • Formal EducationThere is not really any way you can really prepare to become an art director. Although you need a bachelor's or master's degree. Suggested majors are art or graphic design. Other majors you might want to consider are Photographic arts or computer applications technology. What you want out of your career can pretty much let you know what major you are best suited for.

5. 6. Common career paths • Art directing is not an entry-level job. Media of any sort would be a good place to start where you can gain experience and develop skills. Get experience by working as an assistant to an art Director. It really is a great way to get experience. Working on school newspapers or websites is a good way to prepare for entry-level jobs.

7. Pre-production duties • designing and setting up the production set. • Consults the script and the director to create an authentic and believable set. • Drafts the set design onto the studio floor plan. • Oversee content design and production • Set and approve the visual design and content. • character development: modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation. • Understand the toolset and engine parameters • Manage the art team’s schedule. • Stay current on game engine technology and art processes.

9. Best suited for Job • To be best suited for this job you would have to have the attributes for the job. Some of them are good communication skills, planning and organizing, innovation, good decision making, A leader etc.

11. What goes wrong!! • What goes wrong with an art director is they can come up with ideas for the film and the director may not like them • causing a disagreement between the two people which could delay the production of the movie.

12. Equipment used • A lot of art directors can use computer software these days so the computer is the most used tool. The programs do quite a lot. When we researched it there was a lot of technical stuff that was hard to understand.

Education/Training • Minimum Education Required: Associate (2-year) degree • Recommended Education: Bachelor's (4-year) degree • Recommended High School Courses:  Drama, Stagecraft, Literature, Communications, Broadcasting, History of Theatre, Art, and Industrial Arts • Other Recommended Activities: Act for an audience of any size, support others who are acting, or speak in public

16. Education requirements • You need a BA in Interior Design and an AA in Architecture. Some have Architecture degrees and some have no degrees at all .The only thing abut a set designer is the more education and experience, the better. • Photoshop and Illustrator or Corel Draw are good to know. Vector Works is popular, and Rhino is often requested. • Set design is one of the last hold-outs for preferring pencil drafting, computers are very slowly catching on. • There are not many schools around. You can take classes in Set Design, Art Direction, and Production Design at UCLA Extension.

17. Common career paths: • Theatre is a common path for a set designer to make and maintain the look of the sets. • Another common path for a set designer is to design sets for a series of TV shows. • Working with a film industry on making sets for a movie

20. Best suited for job • To be best suited for this job you would have to have the attributes for the job. Some of them are Be creative and imaginative, have an eye for color and detail, appreciate beauty, sketch well, work on your own and under pressure etc.

22. What goes wrong!!! • What goes wrong with the set designer is a set could break and they can lose some supplies they need in making the sets.

23. Equipment • Equipment associated with set director is building supplies such as hammers, nails, cloth, & wood etc.
