  8. Goals 2008 2008 focus: • Continuing to make the shift from teaching to learning • FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION • Data driven decision making • CHALLENGES: • Increase teacher/departmental collaboration • Systemic approach to student intervention

Goals 2010 • Maintain our focus on College Readiness and POI (Interventions for student success) • Increase career awareness • Pearson- Understand its capabilities and use it to improve teaching/learning • Work collectively to strengthen student skills in the areas of reading, critical thinking and data interpretation

GOAL SETTING • What are your classroom goals this year? • Can you add formative assessments into your lessons more regularly? • Can you find additional ways to differentiate your instruction by using technology and/or focusing on best practice strategies? • Can you contact parents more regularly when students are missing assignments or are struggling?

  18. FACILITIES AND BUILDING UPDATE • Lisa Newman is the AP overseeing facility issues • Maintenance Order Form (on the U drive) • Keys (in the AP office) • Problems or Concerns with your classroom? (email on maintenance form)

  19. STUDENT HALL PASSES • Planners are now an optional purchase • Teachers will have a second ID printed, put on a lanyard as your classroom hall pass • Use LC pass, use paper passes for offices (call/email first)

  28. GRADING & ATTENDANCE • District Grading Policy (blue handout) • The District has adopted IntegradePro as the only approved grade book • Teachers are expected to keep parents apprised of student progress on a regular basis through the District approved electronic grade book

Club Update • Joyce Russell- Activities Director Regularly Scheduled Volunteers need to submit an I-Chat Authorization • MUST have 15 students who have paid their club fee for a club to run • Club fee $30. per club. No fee for NHS, Key Club, Rotary Interact and Rachel’s Challenge • Mandatory Club Sponsor Meeting: Sept.14th at 2:30, room D 130.

  31. ATTENDANCE UPDATE • Attendance Policy (white handout) • Now that Attendance will be “live” for parents to check on line, attendance must be posted at the beginning of each hour. On occasions when this is not possible it must be in by 4:00pm.

  32. CODE OF CONDUCT • Every 9th grade student will receive a copy in Homeroom. • Return alphabetized copies to the counseling office with the names of absent students highlighted. ALL STUDENTS MUST SIGN FOR A COPY

  33. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY • Short video to cover the topic- Would any of you volunteer to make this video? • Each student will sign a copy…second week of school. What hour? • Return signed copies to the counseling office ASAP

  34. BUILDING BUDGET • $80 Per Teacher for classroom needs - See form for guidelines • Department Budget Allocations • Lower department budgets for essentials • See new form if there is additional need

COURSE SYLLABUS • REQUIRED FOR EVERY CLASS • Please have your syllabus approved by the appropriate Administrator: • Wendy Zdeb: English, Social Studies • Susan Demeniuk: Science, World Languages, ELL, LC and Industrial Tech • Lisa Newman: Math, Special Education, PE, Art, Business, Music, FACS • Be mindful of: Department/Course consistency, Student Success and keeping it to 1 page.

  36. Teacher Evaluations • Effective Jan.4th the State Legislature made changes to the State Code which focuses specifically on evaluations. • The important change is that all Teacher and Administrators will be evaluated annually. • Multiple categories, including student growth.
