  1. Alaska Emotional Support Animal Laws You Should Know MY ESA Doctor

  2. So, you’re ready to travel with Alaska Airlines? Before you book the air tickets, it’s necessary to read thoroughly the Alaska emotional support animal lawsso that you don’t have any problem later on.For hassle-free travel experience, the airline advises making reservations as early as possible, arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before departure, and notify them about any special requirements. Those who want to fly with their emotional support animals should provide copies of ESA letters to the airline. And, during travel, passengers traveling with their ESAs must ensure that their animals don’t cause harm to other passengers in flight.

  3. Alaska Airlines Emotional Support Animal Laws • Emotional support animals are allowed to travel with their owners for free. The animal size must not exceed the personal space or footprint or foot area during the flight. • Another Alaska Airlines pet policyis to provide ESA notification at least 48 hours before departure. However, they advise passengers to keep the forms along with them for the entire journey. • ESAs must be under complete control of the passengers in the airport and onboard the airplane. • Emotional support animals must be in kennels/carriers that can easily fit under the seats—in accordance with the FAA regulations.

  4. The ESA to be taken on the flight must be at least four months old. • Don’t overfeed your animal on the travel day. • Animals must be seated on the floor below the passengers’ seats. Larger pets can sit into the owners’ laps. • Your ESA should behave appropriately in the flight as well as in the airport.  • The animals can’t occupy seats or sit on tray tables. Also, they’re not allowed to sit in the emergency exit row. The airline recommends passengers to choose seats that have enough legroom and are safe for animals.

  5. The passengers traveling with their ESAs should check in at least 2 hours prior to departure. They should notify the customer service agent about emotional support animal travel. In case of any issue related to ESA, speak to a Complaints Resolution Official (CRO). Alaska Airlines allows only one emotional support animal per passenger per flight. Animals accepted are—dogs, cats, and miniature horses. They don’t accept snakes or other reptiles, ferrets, rodents, and spiders. • Passengers are required to submit certain forms—passenger confirmation of liability and emotional support animal behavior form, animal health advisory form, and mental health professional form.

  6. For travelers traveling with their emotional support animals outside the United States of America, it’s important to contact the appropriate embassy or consulate 4 weeks prior to the travel day. This ensures that they would be able to complete documentation such as health certificates, vaccination records, etc. that are required for entry into the county/region. However, failure to provide the proper documentation may result in the animals being placed in quarantine on arrival, and the owners will be responsible for costs for care, fines, etc.

  7. The conclusion is, flying with an emotional support animal can ensure you hassle-free travel experience. Alaska Airlines is one of the airlines that allow passengers to travel with their emotional support animals without paying extra pet travel fees. However, the airline has several regulations, which passengers should read to avoid any problem during the flight. Passengers must notify the airline about ESA travel at least 48 hours before travel time and must reach the airport at least 2 hours before departure. Proper documentation should be provided, and it includes various forms—passenger confirmation of liability and emotional support animal behavior form, animal health advisory form, and mental health professional form.
