  1. Significance of Diyas Diyas are most well known for Diwali, they also serve as great diwali gifts, but they have greater and importance significance. Let’s find out what it stands for and why they are auspicious. According to Hinduism

  2. In Hinduism, it is said that diyas stand for all goodness and purity and positive luck and power. The non existence of evil and darkness is signified with the presence of light, which the diya helps with. Significance of Diyas in Diwali It is believed that the evil spirits and force become very active during this time and gain power, specially when there is no light, which is what the case is as Diwali is celebrated on a new moon day. To keep away this evil energy and darkness, the diyas are lit in every household. Significance of each part of Diya Oil: It symbolises the mess in the human mind which can be decribed with emotions and thoughts like greed, hatred, jealousy and all the negativity. Humans tend to nurture this. Cotton: This in the diya symbolises the self or also often referred to as the atma or the soul. Burning: The oil in the diya is burnt by the wick. This symbolises the need to get rid of all the negative emotions and thoughts talked about above from our own self. Therefore the act is symbolic of freeing oneself from all of the negative energy that resides in us by navigating ourselves to a path of enlightenment. This act evokes the greater power to guide us in the said journey. Therefore, remember to light diyas and fulfil the meaning of the act. Remember to get rid of the negativity in and around you by lighting diyas and understanding the process with care. Lets make the festivities about positivity, love and celebration!
