  2. Discovery Grants • Deadline: November 1 • Applications must be received at NSERC by deadline • No additional documents accepted after deadline

  3. RGO Internal Deadlines • Start Early • Submit your application to RGO two weeks prior to agency deadline • Research Tools & Instruments – October 11 • Discovery Grants – October 18

  4. RGO Review • Grants Officer will give feedback on: • Budgets • Format • Personal Data Forms (CVs) • Missing information • Errors

  5. RGO Internal Deadlines • Respecting internal deadlines = • Full review of application • Insurance against errors • Facilitation of application process • Less worry, less stress

  6. NSERC Major Deadline • At least 175 Discovery Grant applications expected from McGill • Additional 70 RTI applications expected • Over 900 applications expected for various agencies Sept.-Oct. • Last minute applications will not be reviewed

  7. Application Procedures • Choice of online or paper submission • Workshops for online submission provided by RGO • Convert files to PDF before attaching • All applications, whether esub or paper, must be signed by applicant, chair & RGO (additional signatures needed as required)

Online Application Procedures • Applicant submits online to RGO • RGO can return application to PI for revisions • RGO submits to NSERC • Signed paper copy of application + RGO checklist required by RGO • Research Contributions (DG only) submitted by mail (RGO provides mail service for pre-packaged contributions until October 29, 5:00 p.m.)

  9. Macdonald Campus e-submission • Applicant submits online to RGO • Signed paper copy of application, RGO checklist & sample contributions submitted to Mac Research Office • Mac Research Office sends applications to RGO • Mac Research Office couriers sample contributions to NSERC

  10. Paper submission procedures • RGO mails applications received by internal deadline to NSERC • Submit all required copies to RGO for mailing • Include copy for RGO (with checklist)
