  3. The Goddess’ Action • We find Ammut plays a role of judgment when a person’s heart is weighed against a feather. • If the heart is heavier than the feather, Ammut would eat the heart. • But if the feather is heavier than the heart, the soul could pass to the afterlife.

  4. Where the Goddess Lived • Ammut lived near the Scales of justice in Duat. • She is also to be said to live near a lake of fire.

  5. More of her actions • In which was in the underworld. • If Ammut ate the heart, The soul would once be restless, (the soul would die again). • After she swallows the heart, Ammut goes to the lake of fire and completely disposes of it. • The Lake also represented as a sign.

  6. Truth of Ammut • Ammut was never worshipped and was never treated as a goddess. • Instead, Ammut was feared by all, threatening to bind all to everlasting restlessness if they did not follow the principle of Ma’at. • She was also linked with the goddess Tawaret, who also had a phisical apperance. • As Bes’ friend, she also protected others from evil.
