  6. Curriculum *Social Studies: Project Postcard We will be collecting postcards for the entire year for 
students to learn about different places, improve their 
reading, and work on their map skills. Please see the note in your child's F.I.S.H. folder for 
more information. Other social studies concepts: economics, citizenship, geography, and history *Science: Science concepts: being a scientist, 
matter, plants, weather

  7. Homework *Please make a priority!!! *About 20 minutes/night 
of reading + reading responses *Math pages 1-2 nights/week and 

basic facts practice *Communicate with me 
on your needs!

  8. F.I.S.H. Folders Family Involvement Starts Here!!!

  9. Classroom Management/ Behavior Plan We will be working hard to create arespectful and hard-working classroom 
environment. Consequences Take a Break Note/Call Home Logical Consequences

  10. Attendance/Tardiness/Illness Please be sure your child makes it school on days he/she is not ill. Days lost 
at school are very difficult for children to make up. Please be sure to have 
your child to school on time each day. Please do not send your child to 
school if he or she is ill. Changes in Plans Please send a note with your child if he/she has a change 

of plans for the end of the day. I will not allow students to 

change their plans without a note or phone call. Please do 

not send an e-mail on the day of a change in case I do not 

have the opportunity to check e-mail before the end of the 

day. Password Security Please discuss with your child the importance of keeping passwords private. 
Students will start to have passwords for different programs. It is 
important to have students get into that mind set now, because the 
importance of keeping their information private with grow in the future. Headphones/Earbuds Please send a set with your child to use with our classroom Learn Pads! These will 
be sent home at the end of the school year.

  11. Volunteers If you are interested in volunteering, please fill 
out the sheet provided in your child's F.I.S.H. 
Folder. Dress Code Tennis shoes are required for both gym class 
and recess. If your child does not have proper 
footwear he/she will not be allowed to 
participate. Flip flops, Crocs, and snow boots 
will not be allowed in gym class! FLIP FLOPS SHOULD NOT BE WORN TO SCHOOL!

  14. Snacks The morning can get long without a snack, I encourage you to send a HEALTHY snack each day! Water bottles are also welcome! NO NUTS!!! Milk Break  Milk only at breakfast and lunch, no milk break. Students are welcome to bring a water bottle. WATER ONLY! Breakfast Breakfast is served at school from 8:15-8:45

  15. Star of the Week Each child we be assigned a week that he/she is the 

STAR! A note will be sent home about this date soon. Birthdays We will celebrate birthdays by singing to and recognizing your child with singing, games, a certificate, and a pencil. Birthday treats will not be allowed at school this 
year.

  16. Sharing Day to day sharing will be verbal. 

Your child will have the opportunity to 

share items from home during 

his/her Star of the Week time and on 

special designated days. Toys at School Please DO NOT send them! Pets Pets must remain outside if they come to school.

  17. Conference Sign Up  Conference sign up will be online.  You will be notified when registration opens. The sign up will be similar to the assessment sign up system. End of the Day Procedures Please check the Afternoon Transportation 
Poster and make any corrections right on the sheet. Also, for the safety of all at Kennedy, please 
drop off your child from the side parking lot 
and not the front of the building! For pick up this year all families will receive a 
car number. Please stop at the office to get 
your number!
