Whatis FP7 ? • The 7th Framework Programme is the largestfinancialtool of the European Union (via EC) to co-finance R&D in Europe. • FP7 is running from 2007 to 2013 for a total budget of over 50 billion Euros. • FP7 is also opened to a number of non EU countries, including Algeria, under the similar conditions (% of funding, rules of participation, etc.)

FP7 objectives • Construction of the European Research Area • Gain leadership in key scientific and technology areas • Stimulate the creativity and excellence of European research • Develop and strengthen the human potential of Europeanresearch • Enhance research and innovation capacity throughout Europe • To support growth, competitiveness and employment

  4. FP7’s Programmes • FP7 has four (4) main programmes and one (1) joint research center called Euratom. • Cooperation  Collaborative research • Capacities  Research capacity • People  Researcher mobility (Marie Curie) • Ideas  Frontier research

  5. FP7 Cooperation • FP7 Cooperation has ten (10) research thematics: • Health • Food, agriculture and biotechnology • Information and communication technologies • Nanosciences, nanotechnologies • Energy • Environment (including climate change) • Transport (includingaeronautics) • Socio-economic sciences and the humanities • Security and • Space

FP7 Capacities • FP7 Capacities aims to stimulate the capacity building of EU research organisations via different initiatives: • Research for the benefit of SMEs • Regions of knowledge and support for regional research-driven clusters • Research potential of Convergence Regions • Science in society • Support to the coherent development of research policies • International cooperation

  7. FP7 People • FP7 People also called Marie Curie Actions is supporting the mobility of researcher in the world: • Initial training • Life-long training • Industry academia • International dimension • Specific actions
