  2. Combined Sewer Overflow Consent Decree Amendments 1 & 2

Consent Decree (CD) defining city’s obligations executed September 2006 CD requires: 97 percent capture in Fall Creek with up to 2 CSOs in a typical year 95 percent capture in all other waterways with up to 4 CSOs in a typical year Completion of $1.7 billion (2004 dollars) in Consent Decree Projects(includes 31 control measures) Overall Long Term Control Plan Expenditures $3.5B (2004 $$) CSO Consent Decree

  4. Deep Rock Tunnel Connector (Amendment 1) • Constructed in deep rock rather than soft ground • Up to 1 B gallons of sewage captured four years earlier • Eliminates 1 of 2 planned pumping • stations, resulting in energy savings • Approval laid groundwork for • the Enhancement Plan

Foundation Application of more detailed system modeling Holistic analysis of system storage and treatment Goals Remove more sewage sooner Meet CD performance criteria and schedule Complete additional environmental projects Incorporate most cost effective environmental solutions Reduce carbon footprint The Enhancement Plan(Amendment 2)
