  2. Introduction Introduction This book is about when a girl named Catherine, meets a boy named Jason at occupational therapy. Jason can not talk. They learn how to communicate with each other by using a book with words and pictures.

  3. Characters Catherine-She is a 12-year-old girl. She is impatient because she is ready for her younger brother David to be normal, and she is ready to have a new neighbor that is her age. She is also helpful because she wrote words for a boy named Jason who she met at occupational therapy, and she wrote rules for her brother David. My personal connection is I’m impatient Kristi- She is a 12-year-old-girl.She is the neighbor of Catherine. Her parents are separated . She is a nice girl. My personal connection is I’m a nice girl. Jason- He is a boy Catherine met at the occupational therapy. He is in a wheelchair , and he cannot talk. He is polite most of the time. My personal connection is I’m polite David- He is Catherine younger brother. He is always wanting to go somewhere. Most of the time he is following the directions. My personal connection is I’m always wanting to go somewhere.

  4. My Favorite Part My favorite part of the story was when Catherine was pushing Jason in his wheelchair to make it seem like he was running . It made me feel like I was Jason in the wheelchair.

  5. About the Author Cynthia Lord is the mother of two, one who has autism. She is a former teacher, behavioral specialist, and bookseller. She lives with her husband and their children in Maine. Rules is her first novel.
