  2. The 8 Best Accessories for 3 Gun Competitions From Natchez Shooters Supplies If you are using stock guns for a 3 Gun competition that allows modifications, you will be at a severe disadvantage. From putting Redfield scopes on rifles to accelerator cuts on your handgun’s slide, there are upgrades and accessories you want to give you a better chance of shaving seconds off your time and increasing accuracy. Here are some that you will want, available at Natchez Shooters Supplies. High-Quality Optics Optics are crucial to increasing your accuracy. This is especially important on rifles, where the competition could have both near and far targets. You will want optics like Bushnell Scopes on your rifles and Trijicon red dot sights on your handguns. Generally, a 1-6x magnification will suit you on your rifle, while using a red dot on handguns is the most common option. You may want a red dot on your shotgun as well but using iron sights is not uncommon. Lighter Triggers Lighter triggers means you can shoot faster while looking down your Redfield scopes. You can also improve the break, giving you more tactile feedback. For example, Glocks might have a slightly mushy trigger, but you can improve this with a new trigger and a trigger connector. This makes the trigger a clean, glass-like break with less pressure needed to pull the trigger.

  3. Secure Holsters Gun retention is critical in competition, as a gun falling out of a holster is often an immediate disqualification. You will want a holster that has good retention, and preferably not just through friction. A holster with Level 3 retention, like with many Safariland holsters, is best, as it uses several different locking mechanisms to keep the gun in the holster. Magazine Pads Do you want an extra round or two before reloading? Use expanded magazine pads. These replace the stock pads on magazines, giving extra room. Magazine Couplers Instead of adding a second of getting a rifle magazine out of a belt pouch, a magazine coupler connects two magazines together. Eject the mag, move it over, and you have a fresh mag ready to go. When even fractions of seconds count, this can give you the edge over the competition. Belt Pouches You will need belt pouches for at least your handgun mags. Finding the right one for you might require trial and error, as there are a wide variety of pouches. You may also want pouches for rifle mags, especially if couplers are not allowed. Shotgun Chokes Shotgun chokes alter the spread pattern of the shot. This is handy if you know the distance to the target during the shotgun part of the competition. Having the right choke can make all the difference, from hitting multiple stationary clays to a distant steel target. Shell Holder The hardest part of the shotgun portion of the competition is reloading. Whether you duo-load or quad-load, you will need shell holders to keep extra shells handy. Then, it’s all down to practicing reloading to cut down on the time it takes to get two or four new shells in the shotgun.
