It was World War II, but today, the city holds the title of being the capital of Ukraine and is internationally recognized for its unprecedented tourism potential. The city attracts tourists from across the globe with its glorious history and architectural beauties. It offers numerous impressive cathedrals, monuments, and churches. Here are five things that you as a tourist must do when traveling to Kiev:  B U S T L I N G U N E S C O S I T E S Although Kiev only includes two UNESCO World Heritage site, they are filled with dazzling architecture and awe- inspiring views; the Kiev Pechersk Lavra and the Saint Sophia Cathedral. Both of these sites are Orthodox Christianity icons of this city. Kiev Pechersk Lavra is actually a cave monastery that dates back to 1051. Even the Saint Sophia Cathedral dates back to the 11th century and is, therefore, one of the most famous attractions in Kiev. S A I N T S O P H I A ' S C A T H E D R A L , K I E V This really is but one among the most glorious architectural landmarks and high visited sights of Kiev/Kyiv. It is the oldest Orthodox Cathedral of Kiev, built in 1037 with thirteen green colored golden domes. It's beautiful interiors with Byzantine frescoes, mosaics and gilded adorned on the roof as well as on walls. This complex is believed to survive numerous disasters of political unrest and fires. The bell tower of this cathedral provides a terrific view of the whole city.

She stands with a sword in her right hand, however, it is the defense she is holding--using a symbol representing the Soviet Union. The statue was built to commemorate the brave soldiers who perished themselves during the World War II. There’s a Museum of the History of Ukraine around the gorgeous river and much larger than life monuments. You can explore these iconic picturesque places with your with rental cars as well. Exploring the Neighborhood Podilskyi, or Phil, is just one of Kiev's hippest areas. Podil is situated near to the Dnieper and hosts vibrant street art, quirky cafes, and some of the chill bars in Kiev. Kiev's city center can be somewhat ostentatious to get some, but Podil is intimate and charm awakens from every street corner from your district.
