    1. 6/17/2012 Mrs. Wright Pennfield Mathematics Mrs. Cresta Wright Room 21 This educational application of PowerPoint is important for student learning because research has provided evidence of the improvement on student achievement with parent involvement. Also, I will be able to provide a packet for parents/guardians to take with them since PowerPoint allows handouts to be easily printed. Currently, our school uses PowerPoint for several things such as to televise announcements, upcoming events, etc. Students are familiar with watching media to gather information and seem to enjoy it. This is a quality method to deliver routine information. It will hold viewers attention, and introduce excitement, spontaneity, and fun into an information session. The students will learn more efficiently in and out of the classroom if they have the proper tools and know their expectations ahead of time. This presentation could be used in education for parents/guardians, students, and co-workers. Letting the slide show continuously run during Freshman Orientation, Open House, and Parent-Teacher Conferences would allow me to meet, greet, and interact with several individuals and have a visual aid for information I provide. (I already shared it with three other teachers.) If for some reason, I couldn’t speak to everyone or had to be absent from one of the previously named events, this presentation could “fill in” for me as opposed to having nothing to offer but a closed door. If I were to run the presentation during parent teacher conferences, I could set up a presentation station outside of my classroom for people waiting to speak with me so they would have something productive to occupy them while they wait. Furthermore, other teachers may want to create a presentation of their own. This slide show could be an example for others to model and I would be happy to share it with them. The use of this presentation will make a positive impact on student learning by informing them and their parents/guardians about several requirements related to Michigan High School Mathematics and the classroom. The presentation contains a bunch of valuable material related to things students need in order to be successful. Efficiently informing parents/guardians and students of their expectations will enable them to be aware of the available resources which can aid in their High School mathematics education. I enjoyed making this presentation and look forward to using it.
