Goal 1 - Eradicate extreme hunger and poverty • The prices for food are rising up as well as fuel • At least one sixth of humanity or even up to a billion people in developing countries not being able to have access to food • The government response is that the development on targeting the crisis and the poor people • They will achieve full and productive employment for everyone including women and young people

  3. Goal 2 – achieve universal primary education • Education is one of the best developing investments • Getting girls and boys to attend school is part of a challenge • Those children that attend school don’t get enough basic literacy and numeracy skills • Australia is focused on providing education for them and strengthening education systems in close countries

  4. Goal 3 – promote gender equality and empower women • The government helps to promote and protect human rights by supporting activities for indigenous groups • The protection by Australia's development partner is a very important element • More girls had a chance for education than they did in 2000 • Solomon islands has created a policy for violence against women

  5. Goal 4 – reduce child mortality • By 2008 the total annual number of deaths in children under five years of age has fallen to 8.8 million which is down by 30% from 12.4 million • With Australia’s support Papua New guineas child morality rates have now gone down • Through Australia's aid program 95 % of children who are at risk from low level of vitamin A have now been tested and treated

Goal 5- improve maternal health • Some countries have recorded a decline in the number of women dying during pregnancy od childbirth • Australia has supported the training birth attendants and midwives in the Asia-pacific region over the past 10 years • A primary health care has now supported and implement by Save the Children Australia campaign which has now helped health services for women and children

  7. Goal 6 – combat HIV/AIDS malaria and other diseases • HIV infections and deaths for AIDS are now declined all around the world • Australian support have now reached at least around 75% of people living with HIV/AIDS in Papua new guinea • Australia has worked with governments from the Solomon islands and Vanuatu • Australia has supported better ways of recognising and treating tuberculosis and addressing the rise of non communicable diseases in the region

  8. Goal 7 – ensure environmental sustainability • All over the world at least over two and a half billion people directly rely on their local natural resources and ecosystem for food, shelter and income • Australia has assisted defenceless countries in the Pacific region • Australia and Indonesia are undertaking a large scale showing activities to reduce greenhouse gas from deforestation • Australia’s water has helped increase safe access to drinking water
