  2. RELIGIONS IN MACEDONIA • Different countries celebrate different types of holidays. In my country Macedonia different religions are practiced: Islam, Orthodox mostly, Catholic, Judaism etc. Everyone respects the others religious holiday and makes a visit to them in their special days.

  3. EIDS IN MACEDONIA • The Muslims celebrate two different Eids in one year : Eid al- Adha and Eidul- Fitar

  4. EID AL ADHA • Eid al-Adha comes after Hajj, the muslims pilgrimage to Mecca. It’s celebrated 3 days. The first day traditionally each Muslim family is to sacrifice one domestic animal like a sheep, goat, cow or camel. The family eats the first third of the animal and the other part is given to relatives and needed people.

  5. EID UL FITR • Eidulfitr is known as the sweet Eid because a lot of sweets are served during this festivity. It comes at the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. This Eid people are obligated to give cherity . It’s celebrated 5 days.

  6. CELEBRATING EID IN MACEDONIA • People wake up early. Men go to mosque to pray. From the mosque they go to visit the family graves. Women make preparations. Everybody wears their newest clothes. After man come from mosque the children kiss the older peoples hands. The older give money or presents to the younger ones. Than the rich Eid breakfast is served. Afterwards younger people visit the elderly.

  7. At lunch time the family gathers . Different Eid delicacies are prepared. The special dish is grilled sheep.
