Known Mongolians • Mongols are people with an ancient and glorious history. • Yamato Empires, The Yamato clan was established as the leading clan. • Ogedei: who continued the program of military conquest. His generals pushed as far west as Hungary and were all set to invade Western Europe when Ogedei died. • Genghis Khan: Succeeded in warfare by claiming that he was the rightful master of the world. • Kublai Khan was a Mongolian ruler who tried to invade China for years but was unsuccessful until the year 1279 where he finally overwhelmed the Chinese Samurais.

Known Japanese • One of the most known people who were part of this country were the samurai’s. • Japans two most powerful clans which fought for power, Minamato family emerged with the victory. • Yoritono, was the shogun (supreme general of the emperor’s army.” • Yamato- 400 AD Yamato clan became the leading clan they thought they were the descendants of Amaterasu, who was the son goddess. They were the first known emperors of japan, while rulers the dynasty was never overthrown.

Characteristics of Medeival Japan • Medieval Japan with its feudal structures offers a striking contrast to the earlier classical period of Japanese history: warfare and destruction characterize the medieval era in which samurai warriors became the rulers of the land. • The similarities as well as the differences in historical patterns of medieval Japan and medieval Europe are of interest to historians. Feudal political organization, bonds between warriors, and the prominence of religion are characteristic of the medieval periods in both societies. • By the 1500s, a class of territorial military lords, or daimyo, emerged; the daimyo established and maintained their domains (called "han"), they built castles, and established towns around their castles where their samurai retainers resided and served in their armies.

Characteristics of the Mongolians • Under Kublai Khan foreign trade increased • Mongol Peace made the caravan routes safe for trade and travel • Mongols were nomadic people which were also known as pastoralists. They were constantly on the move searching for good land to feed their herds. • In the period of time called Pax Mongolica, the Mongols were against the stabilities, laws and orders of much Eurasia

Key events • Kublai Khan wanted to conquer Japan, but was unsuccessful • Towards the end of Kublai khans reign, he tried to expand his empire into southeast Asia only to be defeated many time • After Kublai Khan died in 1294 the Yuan dynasty began to fall • in 1368 the chinese rebellions finally overthrew the mongols
