Telling time. Quelle heure est-il ? Il est… Add the number of the hour that it is, follow by the word “heure”. If the hour is more than one, add an –s to the word heure. If it is midnight, use minuit . If it is noon, use midi. Don’t use the word heure after midnight and noon.

  7. To talk about time more after the hour but before half past: After the hour, add: • :15 et quart • :30 et demi(e) • (Add the –e to demi for all hours except midnight and noon) Any other number, add just the number: • :10 dix • :22 vingt-deux

  8. To talk about time from half-past to the next hour: • use the word moins to subtract the number of the minutes from the hour it is going to be • :45 moins le quart • for any other time, just subtract the number of minutes • 3:37 quatreheures moins vingt-trois • 2:55 troisheures moins cinq
