  1. “Yemeni head Saleh has collapsed lung, burns over 40% of body”

  2. Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh suffered burns on 40% of his body and a collapsed lung, whether he will return to the conflict in Yemen -- remains uncertain. Salehwas injured Friday from an attack at his presidential compound and is seeking treatment in Saudi Arabia. An Arab diplomatic source with knowledge of Saleh's condition says one shrapnel wound is 7 centimeters (2.75 inches) deep. Fighting between government and tribal forces has raged for weeks in Yemen, where thousands of anti-government protesters have been pressuring Saleh to give up power since January. The turmoil in Yemen reached a pinnacle Friday, when a mosque in Saleh's presidential compound was attacked. After Saleh went to Saudi Arabia for treatment, the tribal leader and Vice President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi -- Yemen's interim leader -- agreed on a cease-fire, said Abdulqawi Al-Qaisi, spokesman for the Hashed leader. Yemen's largest opposition bloc has vowed to prevent Saleh from returning.

  3. In Other News COOKEVILLE, Tenn.  — The cicadas may be dying off, but they're going out with a bang. Last week, a Putnam County man called 911 to complain about the bugs. The noise was so loud that the caller thought there was machinery outside. When deputies went to the house, they discovered that it was cicadas making the commotion. They told the residents that the noise would stop in about a week. No one was arrested. A man rescued by U.S. Park Police after diving into New York Harbor claimed God told him to swim to Liberty Island and that’d he’d rather die than fail his mission, reports The New York Post. The 29-year-old man stripped down to his swim trunks before horrified onlookers and leaped into the icy waters from a Liberty State Park to embark on the three-quarter of a mile swim to Liberty Island. A witness spotted the man roughly 45 minutes into his “divine-ordered swim” and called police, who dispatched a rescue boat and caught up with the man about a quarter of a mile from the island. “When we got to him he was shivering like a leaf and the tides were taking him away from Liberty Island.” Eventually, the beleaguered swimmer agreed to board the rescue ship. He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation. His condition is unknown at this time.
