  2. Puritans Video and Note Catcher • Please pick up a copy of the note catcher from the middle table and prepare to take notes on the short video we are going to watch about the Puritans. • YouTube Keyword: Puritans • Option: Number Two (puritans)

Learning Objectives • Content Objective: Students will be able to describe elements and characteristics of Puritan society. • Language Objective: Students will watch You Tube video and take notes using the note catcher. • Language Objective: Students will read the New England Primer on Page 17 and answer the number two questions from Page 14 under a heading in the spiral notebooks titled “New England Primer.” • Language Objective: Students will read the handout and add on to their note catcher.

New England Primer • Language Objective: Students will read the New England Primer on Page 17 and answer the number two questions from Page 14 under a heading in the spiral notebooks titled “New England Primer.” • Get our your spiral notebooks and create an entry titled New England Primer. • Read the primer with a partner and answer the following questions in your spirals. • 1. What was the purpose behind reading a primer? • 2. How widespread was reading meant to be? • 3. What is the image of God and religion presented by the primer?

  6. Background Knowledge on Puritans • Language Objective: Students will read the handout and add on to their note catcher. • Your Note Catchers are due tomorrow. I encourage you to complete additional research on the Puritans and add the information to your note catcher. • You will receive a grade for your work, and then the note catchers will be returned to you for further studying.
