Blocks Theme-based activities in this area to support • Phonological awareness and/or Fluency • Letter-sound relationships/beginning sounds • Unit blocks with letters on some blocks- corresponding pictures on others • Ex: M/Motorcycle B/bike • Vocabulary development • Introduce new words • Bridge, draw bridge, log books and pictures, word cards • (motorcycle, bike, bulldozer, truck, car, bus, tractor) • Reading comprehension • Making connection to bridges in Gloucester through pictures and conversations • Alphabetic Principle
