  1. Vivid verbs & Awesome Adjectives “Vivid verbs & Awesome Adjectives”– This station will deal with getting high quality verbs and adjectives into your writing. Your goal is enhance the STYLE of your paper by enriching your writing with strong verbs and adjectives. NOTE – This station has TWO parts to it. Using the provided paragraph, you will circle all verbs and adjectives and replace them with better/stronger choices. You may also choose to additional verbs and adjectives/adverbs to create a stronger image and better paragraph. 2. Using AT LEAST one of your paragraphs from your UGA paper, you will revise and rewrite the paragraph(s) adding vivid verbs and awesome adjectives. Your goal is to create stronger style through detail and word choice. HANDOUTS at this station: 1. Writing to Command Attention handout

  2. “Transition Togetherness” • “Transition Togetherness” – This station will deal with using transitions throughout your paper. Your goal is to bring your writing together and make it flow smoothly from on sentence to the next while still engaging the reader’s interest and WITHOUT saying the traditional “first, second, third OR next”. • NOTE – This station has TWO parts to it. • Using the paragraph provided, you will revise and rewrite it using transitions. Your goal is make the sentences connect using transitions. You may also rewrite the sentences to make them more interesting to the reader AND to make the paragraph connect. • 2. Using the transitions handout, you will revise your UGA paper to make your writing flow more smoothly. REMEMBER – transitions appear everywhere – not just at the beginning of a paragraph. Also, try starting your sentences with • prepositional phrases and dependent clauses to enhance your • sentences and to again make the paper flow. • HANDOUTS at this station: • Transition Words handout

  3. “Not Simple, but Smart, Stylish Sentences” • “Not Simple, but Smart, Stylish, Sentences” – This station will deal with analyzing sentence variety. Your goal is to create stronger sentences. Try to avoid using simple sentences; instead, try using complex, compound, and compound-complex sentences. • NOTE – This station has TWO parts to it. • Using the paragraph provided, you will revise and rewrite it using more advanced sentence variety – complex, compound, compound-complex. Your goal is to create a paragraph with only 1 or 2 simple sentences AND lots of complex, compound, and complex-sentences. Your paragraph should have at least 6 or more good sentences. • Using your UGA paper, you should apply the same challenge to each of your paragraphs.
