  3. ” that they may KNOW Thee” (John 17:3) • Personal Presuppositions of a Christian Counselor • He/she is in fulfillment else in pursuit of fulfilling the first great commandment(Matt 22:39, Mark 12:31, Luke 10:27) • He/she loves the scriptures – “knows them backwards and forwards” – and is able to rightly divide the word of truth -- (2 Tim 2:25) • He/she loves to Abide in JESUS, and thus practice HIS presence (John 15, Ephesians 5:19) – and engages in much prayer, especially for his/her counselee • He/she already ha or is in the process of counting all things loss for the Excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus (Phil 3:8) • Please note, at the risk of appearing harsh, that it may be argued that if the Christian Counselor is not committed to these tenets, he/she will not be conducting Christian Counselingat all, but would rather be using the service of the natural wisdom only.

  4. ” …to minister recovery of sight to the blind” (Luke 4:18) • JESUS said: “He who has EARS let him HEAR (Matt. 13:9). • Cathexis – Ascertain what created the present negative ideation in the counselee • Engender prayerful Insight (Eph. 1:18a, Rom. 12:2) • Decathexis -- To “Detox” the counselee from incorrect ideation of self and Father God • By any means of Holy Spirit leading (Rom2:12) • Recathexis – To help counselee develop a proper image of Himself and Father God • According to the Scriptures (John 9:25)

  5. ” …to minister recovery of sight to the blind” (Luke 4:18) • The Christian Counselors Tools • Regardless of the present means that the counselor may employ based on God our Father’s leading, the counselor must always look forward to the time when he/she may be able to offer strong spiritual meat from God’s Holy Scriptures that will ultimately render the Counselee Holy unto the LORD (John 4:32). • However • The present means the Christian Counselor may employ to accomplish this end may vary and may include the Practical (James 3:15,16, Luke 10:33,34 ), the natural (1 Corinth. 11, 14, Matt 13:13, 1 Cor. 3:2) the spiritual (Matt. 13,12, Heb 5:14, John 4:32), the physical (1 Tim 5:23, Col 4:14, Luke 5:31, Jer. 8:22), etc. etc. -- any and all of these may be used according to Lord’s leading as long as there is an underlying desire in the Counselor that the Counselee ultimately be weaned from all these so as that he/she be at a place where they are learned the practice of being led by the Holy Spirit alone in accordance with scripture (1 John 2:27, John 16:12,13)

  6. ” …to minister recovery of sight to the blind” (Luke 4:18) • The Christian Counselors Tool kit • Jesus said: “I have many things to tell you but you cannot bear them now” (John 16:12, Matt 13:11, 16, Heb 5:11) • All tools that the counselor uses be they secondary or primary tools must be used very prayerfully , so that Zechariah 4:6 may be fulfilled. • Tools to “Detox” • Parables -- “Why speakest unto them in parables” (Matt 13:10) • Milk -- “I have fed you with milk and not with meat” (1 Cor 3:2) • Tools to “Run” • Meat – “but strong meat belongeth to them who are full of age..” (Heb 5:14) • Study of the Scriptures -- (Act 17:11, Heb 4:12,) • Being led by Holy Spirit-- (1 John 2:27, John 16:12,13)

  8. ” …to minister recovery of sight to the blind” (Luke 4:18) • The Ultimate Heart Desire of the Christian Counselor • The Christian Counselor may use any of the above tolls in his/her toll kit as lead by God the Holy Spirit as a means to the following end: • Of rendering the Counselee “complete in Him” ( Collosians 2:10) • That the Counselee learn how to be “led by the Holy Spirit” (Romans 8:14, 1 John 2:27) • Creating in the counselee a mind set that fulfills the two great commandments (Matt 22:39, Mark 12:31, Luke 10:27) • All the tools in the Christian Counselors toolkit may be used to “Detox” the counselee of that which is not of God, with the ultimate goal that he/she may be “Retox”-ed with the NEW WINE (Luke 5:38)
