  2. Performance For this one-off performance, there are 3 distinct sections: • Preparation • Actual performance • Evaluation of performance This one-off performance is worth a total of 60 marks.

Preparation In this section which is worth 10 marks, you need to • Describe two personal challenges that you feel that you need to plan and prepare for in the one-off demanding performance • Explain why these challenges are relevant to you in this demanding performance • Describe how you plan to prepare yourself to meet these challenges • Carry out an appropriate warm up which is relevant to your activity before you start your actual performance

  4. Performance There as six points to consider within the actual performance. These are • Performance repertoire • Control and fluency • Decision making • Effectiveness of decision making • Following rules, regulations and displaying etiquette/good sportsmanship • Controlling of emotions

  5. Evaluation For this section on evaluating your performance there are two parts:- • Evaluate your performance in relation to your planning and preparation for the two challenges previously described in the preparation part • Evaluate your overall performance in relation to feelings of success, emotional responses, improving scores, times etc

  6. Describe personal challenges Personal challenges- what are these? They may be:- • Coping with the pressure of people watching • Opponent who has a really good stroke/shot within the game • Managing emotions • Opponents tactics • Time of the game/match – early/late on in the day

  7. Personal challenges Activity – swimming 1st personal challenge • To react quickly to the starting hooter 2nd personal challenge • To concentrate and focus on my tumble turns

  8. Explain why these challenges are relevant Activity – swimming 1st personal challenge -To react quickly to the starting hooter Why ? It is important that I get as quick a start as possible as this may knock a bit off my overall time. 2nd personal challenge -To concentrate and focus on my tumble turns Why? If I can concentrate and get my distance from the wall correct, then I can turn more efficiently and shave a bit off my time. Also I need to make sure that I do not let others who are slightly in front of me put me off my turn.

  9. Planning to meet the challenges Why do I need to plan? To be ready to perform. What do I do? • Training programme to improve skill and/or fitness • Training to improve my reaction time – land bases and pool based On day of performance – • quiet place to mentally rehearse/visualise my performance • Ensure that I am warmed up, ready to go!
