  3. WARM-UP List 5 international organizations you know and answer these following questions: 1. When are they founded? 2. What roles do they play in the world?

  4. Pre-Reading • Match each logo with the corresponding name.

  5. 2) Work in pairs: • Discuss the difference in meaning between “abbreviation” and “acronym”. Abbreviation: short form of a word. Acronym: a word formed from the first letters of the words that make up the name of something. • Write the abbreviations or acronyms of the international organizations above.

  6. Vocabularies Permanent (adj): the state of lasting for a long time or for all time in the future. e.g: There are five permanentmembers in this organizations. Promote (verb): to help something to happen or develop. e.g: Policies to promoteeconomic growth are carried out. Sustainable (adj): can continue or be continued for a long time. e.g: This is the time of sustainable human development.

  7. Eliminate (verb): To remove or get rid of something /somebody. e.g: The police eliminatedtwo suspects from their investigation. Sponsor (noun): a person who agrees to give somebody money for a charity if that person succeeds in completing a particular activity. e.g: I’m collecting sponsors for next week’s charity run. Establish (verb): to start or create an organization, a system,… that is meant to last for a long time. e.g: The committee was establishedin 1975.
