DAY 1 – PERIOD #1 • ESSENTIAL QUESTION: What is my schedule and where are my classes? • GRAPHIC ORGANIZER: KWL Chart • 1ST PERIOD AGENDA: • Spend a few minutes working on KWL Chart with your shoulder partner. • Expected behavior during the PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE & MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS. • Begin filling out the STUDENT INFORMATION SHEET. • Check SCHEDULE and make sure it’s complete and correct. • CLASSROOM PROCEDURES & EXPECTATIONS: Signing out and signing in, TARDY LOG. Remember…The bell is my signal. You will be dismissed by ME and will be expected to remain in your seats until that happens.

DAY 1 – PERIOD #2 • ESSENTIAL QUESTION: What are the school-wide expectations? • GRAPHIC ORGANIZER: Mind Map • 2nd PERIOD AGENDA: • Spend a few minutes discussing THE BIG 3 expectations with your table group. • Begin filling out the STUDENT INFORMATION SHEET. • Let’s play BINGO!!! • CLASSROOM PROCEDURES & EXPECTATIONS: Signing out and signing in, TARDY LOG. How is it different? • GRAPHIC ORGANIZER: Compare & Contrast Chart • 3rd PERIOD AGENDA: • You now have extra time in the morning to prepare for school and to get here on time. What are some ways you could use that time to be successful in school this year? • Begin filling out the STUDENT INFORMATION SHEET. • How does THE BIG 3 relate to you personally and to the school culture? • How fast can we do a BIRTHDAY LINE-UP? • What lunch will you have? • CLASSROOM PROCEDURES & EXPECTATIONS: Signing out and signing in, TARDY LOG. DAY 1 – PERIOD #4 • ESSENTIAL QUESTION: What is something I have in common with someone in this class? • GRAPHIC ORGANIZER: Think-Pair-Share Chart • 4th PERIOD AGENDA: • Use the Think-Pair-Share Chart to answer some questions about your academic strengths and weaknesses: • Describe the qualities you have as a student (for example, I always complete assignments). • Describe some areas that you think you could improve on (for example, I need to be better organized). • List things you can do to improve your FCAT scores and do well on ACT or SAT tests • Begin filling out the STUDENT INFORMATION SHEET. • Do you know your bus number? • Write down 1 interesting and little known fact about yourself. DAY 1 – PERIOD #5 • ESSENTIAL QUESTION: What is something that we are going to learn this year in this class? • GRAPHIC ORGANIZER: KWL Chart • 5th PERIOD AGENDA: • Write a short paragraph describing the experiences you have had with the subject area of this class (both good and bad). • Begin filling out the STUDENT INFORMATION SHEET. • Do you know your bus number? • Choose a letter of the alphabet. You will have 2 minutes to think of as many words as possible that BEGIN with that letter that describes you. DAY 1 – PERIOD #7 • ESSENTIAL QUESTION: What information is in the Student Handbook that I should know for this year? • 7th PERIOD AGENDA: • Describe 3 things that you learned today about NMHS that surprised you and why. • Begin filling out the STUDENT INFORMATION SHEET. • Do you know your bus number? • The buses from the middle school will probably be late these first few days. Expect that the final dismissal bell will be late. Be patient and follow directions. • We’re going to work with the STUDENT HANDBOOK and divide and conquer the different sections.
