  7. Conflict • A conflict is a difference of opinion between two or more people. • Two parties are in competition with each other. • Conflicts are disruptive and destructive to a group.

  8. Causes of conflicts. • Jealousy • Gossiping • Dirty looks or stares. • Invasion of privacy • Harassment • Cultural diversity

  9. Conflict resolution • Conflict resolution is using techniques that allow people to resolve problems that arise between them. • It enables people to reconcile. • Reconciliation is the act of reestablishing friendships after a conflict.

  10. Conflict resolution involves two types of skills. • Problem-solving skills • Decision-making skills

  11. Steps in problem solving. • Identify the problem. • Evaluate the problem.

  12. Steps in problem solving. • Gather information about the problem. • Generate alternatives.

  13. Steps in problem solving. • Decide on an appropriate plan. • Select and plan a course of action. • Carry out the plan of action. • Evaluate the results.

  14. Questions that need to beasked when making decisions. • What is the decision that needs to be made? • What are the available choices or alternatives? • What consequences are associated with each of these choices or alternatives?

  16. What techniques can be used in the prevention and control of conflicts? • When conflict is present it causes an environment to be unsettled. • People become uncomfortable. • They are not able to act in a comfortable manner or perform adequately.
