  1. The University of Houston Football Operations

  2. Justin Moore • Director of Football Operations • University of Houston Athletics • 3100 Cullen Blvd.Houston, TX 77204-6742 • (713) 743-9388

  3. Working for the University of Houston was a great experience. From day one I was asked to step in and be apart of the department. This program gave me hands on experience and I gained knowledge and skills that I will be able to use in the future.

  4. INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES 1. Train on ACS recruiting program so that I can better assist the program and find new ways to help market the University and the program. 2. Shadow Justin on a weekly basis to see his daily task and job responsibilities in order to get a better idea of what it takes to be the Director of Football Operations. 3. Be apart of weekly meetings in order to get involved and help the organization. 4. Assist in the operation and planning of different events held by the department. Ex: Signing Day, Official Visits, Cougar Youth Experience, etc. 5. Develop a project to help out the department. Preliminary: Work with the budget

  5. DAILY ACTIVITIES The great thing about this job is that every day in a new adventure. While I was interning I went through a signing day and spring football practice. During this time we also had coaching clinics and held different events to help promote the Cougar Football Program. On a daily basis I would come in and check with the Director to see if he had any urgent task for me to do or anything new I needed to work on for the day. Depending on what we had going on I might be working of stuff for coaches, working on the budget, running paperwork to compliance, or planning and organizing one of the events that was coming up. Once a week we attend meeting with the rest of the Assistant Athletic Directors in the athletic department to discuss what was going on in the up coming week. The best part of the day was getting to finish up the day watching practice.

  6. PROJECT DESCRIPTION My main project while interning was to organize the budget for the Houston Football Program. I took the budget from the past year and organized it in different ways to see where we spent are money. I entered everything into excel and then was able to sort and filter out different categories to get different results. Since the new coaching staff had just competed their first season at U of H they wanted to get a better idea on the cost it takes to get a football team to games during a season.
