  5. 2. expression – part of a number sentence that combines numbers and operation signs Ex. 44 + 52 The expression does not include the sum or difference.

  6. 3. number sentence – sentence that includes numbers, operation symbols or a relation symbols Example: 5 + 3 =8 A number sentence does include the answer!!

  7. 5. not equal to – ( = ) relation symbol used to show that two numbers are not equal to each other Ex. $18 = $26 4 + 3 = 7 but 4 – 3 = 7
