  1. Building The Tallest Tower By Aidan Brandt, Sophia Cosette Bloom, and Hunter Allen

  2. Background Information • The tallest towers in the world are the Petronas Towers. • Buildings are made to withstand forces, such as: gravity, people inside, weight of building materials, and weather. • Shake tables… shake. 

  3. Question? Will our replica towers withstand the force of a shake table, like a real tower and a earthquake?

  4. Hypothesis • If we put the table out of alignment by four centimeters then the towers will fall.

  5. Materials • Lego Bricks. • One large Flat Lego Plate. • Metric Ruler. • 3- Ring Binder. • Scissors. • 4 Small Rubber Balls Of The Same Size. • 2 Large Rubber Bands. • Shake table.

  6. Procedure 1 • Cut the front and back off a three ring binder with scissors. • Place the 2 binder covers on top of one another. • Rubber band the 2 together by stretching a rubber band around each end as about 1” from the edge of the board. • Insert the rubber balls between the boards at each corner placing them about 5cm from the edges. • The shake table should now be assembled. • Attach a large, flat, Lego mounting plate to the top of your shake table. • Make many towers with increasing height in the same pattern every time.

  7. Procedure 2 8. Measure each of the towers and make a data table and fill in the table with each of the heights 9. Put the towers on the shake table, and then, shake the table.  10. Measure how far the bricks are out of alignment and record it in your data table.

  8. THE END…
